There Is Strength For The Weary

Kathi Pelton

As I was taking time in a garden to wait upon the Lord, I heard Him speaking these words,

“I give strength to the weary.”

As His people take time to cease from their constant busyness and sit with Him, He will increase their strength so that they will be set free from a deep weariness that produces powerlessness. The enemy is attempting to wear people down through distractions and busy activities but it is important to allow the Holy Spirit to order our steps and activities so that we have time for the One who renews our strength. It is in these “set apart” times that we are strengthened and refreshed as well as receive a reset (reordering) of our steps and the rhythm of our movements in life.

Remember that even God rested on the seventh day! People often do not know how to stop and rest. Waiting is a lost art and yet such a vital one. Waiting is not inactive but it is a discipline of actively and intentionally stopping the dictating demands of this world to allow our bodies, souls and spirits to be strengthened with power for the journey ahead. Just as a vehicle must stop to be refueled, so we must stop for the refueling of our spirits that nourish and restore our souls.

“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:28-31

Exhaustion is not effective for relationship with God, family or for the peace that we personally need. We learn the beauty of trust that is formed in the secret place. We must learn to soar like eagles in the resting place and we must find the strength to walk and to run from the still places. As we take time to rest and wait we will be continually renewed and refueled. We will run the race with strength and effectiveness only as we take those moments to stop and allow Him to refill us.

These still moments are not about intercession or deep prayers but rather about taking time to wait. Listen to the birds singing, the breeze blowing, creations praise. You will find Him there.

He is waiting for you!

In Your Weakness His Strength Will Prove True

Kathi Pelton

I would love to say that my life’s journey is marked by great personal strength but quite the opposite is true. It has been marked by personal weaknesses where God showed up and made His strength manifest time and time again.

It is not out of self loathing or insecurity but I am very aware that my life has been a living testimony of one verse,

“Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” 1 Corinthians 1:27

My life in Christ literally was birthed in His sovereignty. He chased after me and would not let me go until I surrendered to His unconditional love and passionate pursuit. Then, time and time again in my early years of walking with Him, He miraculously kept me safe from my own wayward heart as I was taught by His Spirit how to walk in honor and integrity (even while my character was far from displaying those qualities). Like a child learning to walk or a teenager learning to love, He was patient and forgiving…and so happy to manifest His strength in the midst of my weaknesses.

Now, thirty-five years later, I stand in awe at how His strength is proven true in the midst of my human weaknesses. My character has developed and changed due to His amazing grace but somehow I’m always vividly aware that all that I’ve been given and all the opportunities that have come my way have little to do with my strengths and everything to do with God making known His strength in the midst of my weaknesses.

In the company of the amazing men and women that I have been given the honor to walk in relationship with, I often feel like the “odd man out”. I am loved, received and shown such honor and yet I know that my only qualification for the platform or position that I’ve been given is “my weakness.” I have learned to surrender to His love, to embrace my weakness by understanding that it is only in absolute dependency that His strength and sovereignty will been proven true once again. Surrender is my life song and the awe of His kindness has become my focus.

Do not despise who He made you to be. He creates every vessel differently. As much as I’d love to be an intricate vessel that stands out in a crowd, I’d rather embrace that He made me a simple vessel that causes Him to stand out in a crowd.

Every person; from the genius to the one who struggles to read, from one who turns heads due to their physical beauty to the one who has always been in invisible…all were created with great purpose. Each one has weaknesses that offer them the opportunity to be ushered into the place of surrender and dependency. It is in that place that our God shines the brightest and it is there that the glory of the Lord is made manifest.

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

May His power rest upon you in the place that your human weakness has tried to disqualify you. In every weakness, every hardship, every insult and accusation…may His power and strength become “Christ in you…the hope of glory” so that many may come to know Him and experience His grace.

“To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27

Strengthen One Another: “The King is in the Land”

Kathi Pelton

There is such strength in family and in numbers. As the enemies of God seek to weaken men and women through fear and intimidation it is vital to come together and see strength restored.

Have you noticed that acts of terror are most often targeted at large gatherings of people who had come together to enjoy a single activity? The enemy hates family, he hates people coming together and more than anything he hates family.

In the past decade the enemy has worked hard to see God’s people separated from one another. Many became disillusioned with “church”, causing them to become separated from the family of God. Offenses became fences of separation.

The Lord has been restoring His family and as they come together strength is being restored. In some cases He is joining you to new “houses” and family members and some are being restored to the place that they previously left; causing the fences to fall down.

We are strengthened when we are together, we are encouraged and we are protected.

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:23-25‬ ‭

There are mantels and callings that must be carried by a group of believers rather than by an individual. As each one brings their gift and joins it with those who carry the same heart and vision, together they can receive the corporate anointing that will carry out the vision that takes an army walking together to fulfill.

If one man can chase a thousand and two put ten thousand to flight (Deuteronomy 32:30) then think of how many a group of people who will walk as one army or troop; each member walking in their right position.

“…They never jostle each other; each moves in exactly the right position. They break through defenses without missing a step.” Joel 2:8

I find it amazing how in times of crisis people suddenly come together to work for the good of all. In the recent natural disasters and in the horrific massacre in Las Vegas we saw people come together to protect one another. They brought their different individual gifts and training to assist those in need and they gave what they had for the needs of the whole. No one thought about the color of someone else’s skin, their beliefs or their political party…they merely became a corporate family that shared an experience that brought them together. Each one took their position to defend the weaker ones.

God is calling His people to be positioned in families and as an army that carries out missions of His Kingdom. I keep seeing in my spirit a flag raised that has a lion upon it that announces,

“The King is in the land.”

I sense that the King is here to gather His army and He is giving assignments out. They will train in troops and go out as one under the King’s command. They will march under His authority and with victories assured.

Now is the time to find your troop or tribe. He is positioning each one on their place for the sake of the whole. Strength will come to all as each steps into their appointed steps. The army is coming together and we will walk in the fear of the Lord, the steps of our God and great victories will follow.
