“Trust in the Lord and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:3-4 NASB
Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness! That is what we are to do wherever we go; we feed on His faithfulness, we rest in His faithfulness, we live in His faithfulness, and we feast upon His faithfulness.
His faithfulness is never ending and never changing. It is our hope and our song—“Great is His faithfulness!”
Cultivating faithfulness is like planting it into the soil of our lives so that a great garden can be harvested and fed upon. Some Bible versions of Psalm 37 read like this, “Trust in the Lord and feed upon His faithfulness.”
I love the New American Standard Bible that says, “cultivate faithfulness.” It reflects how the Spirit has spoken it into my life. He has shown me that as I pull up the weeds of doubts and fears and replace them with the seeds of His faithfulness, I will surely reap the harvest of the manifestation of His faithfulness in every area of my life.
Yesterday the Spirit began to speak to my heart about the need within His people to “cultivate faithfulness.” As I spent the morning weeding my garden I took note of how fast the weeds grow and how much slower the fruitful and flowering plants grow. As a matter of fact, when the weeds are left in place, they spread throughout the garden, choking out the life of the fruitful plants. They spread and take up the space that fruit would have grown.
Doubts and fears are the weeds that choke out the fruitfulness in our lives. We must pull them out by the roots and replace them with the truth of His faithfulness! As we then daily cultivate these seeds in our lives, there will suddenly burst forth the manifestation of His faithfulness that will yield a harvest of continual breakthrough in our lives through every season.
I saw a vision of “gardens of faithfulness” and there were rows of different plants growing. Each row had a marker or stake that named the plants in that row. The one that was the clearest to be was a row marked by the word, “COMPASSION.” As I saw this the words from Lamentations 3 flowed through my spirit,
“The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
His compassions NEVER fail!
I then was reminded of the story of the women with the issue of blood for twelve years. As she pushed through the crowd of her doubts and fears to merely touch the hem of His garment, “dumanis” power flowed from Him and she was healed. Compassion released the power that caused His faithfulness to heal her and change her life story. Her seed of faith reached out to touch the faithful One causing compassion and power to flow forth.
As you cultivate seeds of faithfulness in your life you will receive a harvest of compassion and “dunamis” power will arise in your life. Miraculous power will be activated in every place that you cultivate faithfulness. This is a key to your breakthrough!
Today is a day to do some spiritual gardening. Pull up the weeds and plant the seeds that cultivate faithfulness. Then you will feed upon the fruit of His faithfulness every day of your life!
