Many times in the past I have written about how we are to believe God’s narrative over our lives and our futures but today I want to take it a bit further.
This morning I was watching a Facebook Live broadcast by Shawn Bolz where he was sharing about a significant healing he received in his life. Toward the end of the broadcast he began talking about believing “God’s story” for your life. As I was listening I felt the Spirit strongly bring a witness to my spirit that we need to pull down His narrative and His story into the current timeline of our lives and even into our bodies and our souls.
I immediately began to be aware of areas in my own body and soul that had not received or fully believed God’s story and narrative. There were places where a contradicting narrative was taking place. As I began to break those agreements over my life I was suddenly taken in the spirit over many of God’s people. I could hear their thoughts about themselves, thoughts so contradicting of what they thought of God. I’d hear a voice declare the goodness and faithfulness of God and seconds later the same voice saying “Why am I so stupid.” Then I’d hear another voice declare in worship that God is healer and deliverer followed by, “I’m always sick and always depressed!” I heard these kinds of thoughts over and over again. It was as if there were two narrators within God’s people…two opposing opinions and two belief systems; it was a double-minded narrative.
Immediately after this I saw a vision of people reaching into their bodies, into their minds and into their souls and pulling out books that were marked “fiction”. There was a huge book burning party and these fictional books were being thrown into the fire.
I knew that the fictional books represented the false narratives and stories in their lives that had been accepted as truth and their reality. Each time a fiction book was pulled out, a new scroll or script would come down from heaven and replace the place that the book had held within the person’s life.
I saw inside of these lives two sections, like you’d see in a library; non-fiction (which was God’s Word) and fiction (which was the enemy’s narrative). But suddenly, as they pulled out the fictional books from their thoughts, from their emotions and even from their bodies, they became “one spirit with Christ”.
“But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.” 1 Corinthians 6:17
God’s narrative and story overtook every contradiction, every negative thought, every wrong belief system bringing everything together (body, soul and spirit) into oneness and unity. As this happened the double mindedness that had become a block to living in His promise of abundant life was broken.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:5-8
Today speak life, blessings and truth over your body and over your soul. Ask God what His story for your life is and then speak it into every part of you. Pull out every stronghold of the enemy’s narrative and story that rests upon the shelves of your life. Throw them into the fire to be consumed.
Are there parts of you that you hate? Are there areas in your body, your emotions or your mind that you despise, judge harshly and curse? Today is the day to change that narrative! Speak blessings over your body, speak blessings right into the weaknesses and wounded places in your soul and speak blessings into your very thoughts and mind.
“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” Deuteronomy 30:19
Speak life and blessings over the places of sickness, brokenness , weakness and where those “fictional beliefs” have caused divisions and double-mindedness within your life.
It’s time for a spiritual book burning of every story that is not God’s story in your life. He is about to add His story to the places that you thought had no worth within you. You will stand in amazement at what He does as you burn these books!
