Ask For His Glory: The Key to Manifest Transformation

Kathi Pelton

John Piper defines the glory of God this way,

“The manifest beauty of His holiness.”

So how best do we describe God’s holiness? John Piper also did his best to describe His holiness in these words,

“God’s holiness is his infinite value as the absolutely unique, morally perfect, permanent person that he is and who by grace made himself accessible — his infinite value as the absolutely unique, morally perfect, permanent person that he is.”

John 17:22-23 says that God gives us His glory so that we may be one. He gives us the “manifest beauty of His holiness” that draws us into the oneness and unity that is shared by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

“And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” John‬ ‭17:22-23‬ ‭

What if we all ask for the glory of the Lord to permeate our lives, our relationships, our churches, cities, and nations? What if we surrendered to His glory so that His holiness transformed us to be one even as God is one?

I believe that we have looked upon the glory of God in too narrow of a way. Often I hear His glory described as His presence but it truly is so much more than “God with us.” It is the manifestation of the beauty of His infinitely unique and morally perfect nature that is eternal.

If His glory is the manifest beauty of His holiness and we are given His glory, then we will begin to be the evidence and embodiment of who He is as we allow the Spirit to grace us the glory of the Lord. Unity and oneness will begin to be manifest in our families and in the family of God so that the world will know and see Jesus in His manifest beauty and as John Piper says, “In His infinite value.”

If the glory of the Lord is His manifest holiness, then isn’t that the key to seeing true purity and the undiminished value of God return to the Church so that the world can see Him as He is? It is time for His glory to fill our lives, our homes, and our gatherings so that the fullness of Christ will transform us and transform every place our feet and hands touch.

Far too often we have tried to display His true nature apart from His glory— which in turn is apart from His holiness. This has merely created striving, formulas, and methodology for being “Christ-like.” It is time to ask for His glory to return to the Church, to our homes, and to our hearts so that by His grace we begin to see the manifest beauty of His infinite value displayed.

Let’s ask Him for His glory so that we can be transformed and be the evidence of His infinite value and purity in the midst of a world that has traded true beauty and the value of holiness for defilement and perversion.

His glory is the key for transformation!

Prayerfully consider sowing into our ministry with a financial gift as we come to the close of the Hebrew year 5778. This is a time to sow into “The Year of The Open Door” to prepare to move into a year of His counsel and blueprints being unfolded. The door of His wisdom is being opened which will unlock counsel and strategies for the days ahead.
