“I Felt A Disturbance In The Force”

Kathi Pelton

Our family has been having such a beautiful holiday season but yesterday something felt “off” from the beginning of the day. I thought it was because our sweet five year old grandson fell hard while running to his bus (face first in a mud puddle) but even after his little crisis the “off” feeling continued.

Being a discerner I try to remember that sometimes an off day is not merely circumstantial but spiritual in nature. I often joke with my family and say, “I felt a great disturbance in the force.” (a line from Star Wars when the dark side has released something evil).

As the day progressed yesterday the “disturbance” continued, finally catching my attention that this was not circumstantial but indeed spiritual. By the end of the day I had confirmation that the enemy was releasing a surprise attack to steal peace, joy, unity and to create irritation and discord. I began praying immediately.

I woke up this morning at exactly 3:33 a.m. from a dream where there was a double death, a lot of confusion and disunity. I knew that I was to get up and pray from an offensive posture and bind the assignments sent from the “dark side” and declare life, peace, joy, light, wonder, unity, oneness and awe over God’s people and over the land.

Did you feel this disturbance? If so, you may be discerning an assignment! The next step is intercession. We do not have to tolerate spirits that provoke the soul to offense, twist words, badger, irritate or even push you face first in the mud! We can arise, wipe ourselves off and get the strategy of our King to tear the assignment down. When we discern a disturbance it is time to get on our knees and battle in worship and prayer!

So…I declare over you, over the people of God and over the land “peace be still”. Peace to every storm that has come to cause unrest, division, discord and destruction. By the authority of Jesus Christ I bind every demonic spirit that stirs up strife, provokes the soul and robs God of the worship that He is due. I loose the peace of God, that surpasses understanding, to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). I call upon the Spirit of the Lord to take control of every place in your soul that would react defensively rather than respond offensively. Holy Spirit cause Your people to discern rightly and then to move in both humility and authority to put all offense and all accusation under our feet. I declare a release of love that confounds this assignment and sends it back upon the enemy’s camp.

Today, be mindful of the atmosphere around you, be wise in your actions, be aware of those moments that provoke your soul and take hold of the peace spoken of in Philippians 4:7. Release it over your life, your home, your family, your church, your city and your nation.

“…And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

When there is a disturbance in the force the people of God take it by force and restore peace!
