Kathi Pelton
There is such a deep work that the Holy Spirit is doing in lives at this time. I have honestly never felt an absolute longing to be “holy as He is Holy.”
1 Peter 1:15-16 says,
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.””
I feel emptied of “me” in so many ways. Everywhere I go I talk to believers that are experiencing the same thing. It is a desperation to be one with Him; to be purified from anything that has exulted itself above Him or diminishes His beauty and faithfulness from being displayed in any way.
This is not a work that can be done in the flesh or even a desire that can burn within us apart from the fire of the Holy Spirit igniting it. It merely requires a willingness to yield to the work of the Spirit who searches our hearts.
There is a yearning from deep within many of His sons and daughters that cries out the words from Psalm 139:23-24
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Do not fret over the sense of being emptied or become overwhelmed by the experience of deep calling out to deep. You are not alone in this process. Our souls are being purified for the sake of living as Jesus lived; to only do the will of His Father.
Invite His fire to come upon you and give Him permission to purify your heart. The end result will be “oneness with Christ” and “being holy as He is holy.” He is worthy of it all and worthy of us all.
“Jesus, have your inheritance in our lives and in all the nations.”
