Kathi Pelton
A number of months ago I heard the Lord speak to me saying that a “sifting” had begun. Though I had an idea of what He was referring to, I also knew that I’d understand more as time went on.
The other night my husband and I were teaching together about the parable of the sower from Luke 8:4-15. When we began to talk about the stoney or “rocky” ground God took me a vision where I saw into many people’s souls filled with rocks. Within these souls were many stones that had been stumbling blocks for them and places that had stopped the seeds of the Spirit that He had planted in their lives from flourishing. The seeds would spring up quickly but then whither because of the stones. Then I saw these people spending their lives rearranging these stones in their souls in order to fit into whatever circumstances they were facing or people they needed to please (or pain they were trying to manage). But the time for rearranging these stones of the soul is over and the Spirit of the Lord is asking to sift these stones out.
Those of you who are weary of “rearranging the stones in your soul” are invited to yield it all to the sifting of His Spirit. He will be faithful to remove the stones that you have been stumbling over for so very long now. He is inviting you to yield your soul to be purged of stones of offense, stones that cause you to stumble and stones that you keep striking your foot against.
As God’s children, your spirit was made alive when you came to life in Christ. You were created to live from your spirit where His Spirit resides within you. The soul must learn to yield fully so that work of the Spirit can thrive…restoring your soul. God desires for the spiritual seeds that are sown into your life to fall upon good soil so that you will yield a harvest of good fruit.
I’ve watched so many people stumbling over stones recently and He wants you to know that it is merely His mercy that is revealing the stones so that you can allow His Spirit to remove them once and for all. Do not be discouraged or become ashamed. Look at the stones and give them to the Stone that the builders rejected…Jesus Christ. He will remove them and transform your life into good soil.
“A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth…” Isaiah 42:3-4
You may feel like a bruised reed or smoldering wick but in faithfulness He will redeem you and establish you in His love. Yield! Don’t run, don’t fight the pain or rearrange the stones. Cry out and surrender to His sifting. He is faithful to do in you what you have not been able to do within yourself.
