“Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit…”
Tonight at sunset the second candle of Hanukkah will be lit. The oil was only supposed to last for one night but it miraculously lasted for eight nights.
I believe that today, on this second night (when the oil should have run out) that miracles of multiplication will be seen once again. If there is an area that you are lacking in and what you have will not last for what you need tomorrow, begin to declare the words, “Not by might, nor by power, but by Your spirit…”
His Spirit releases the oil of multiplication and will prosper and multiply what you have as it is used and offered in faith. When there was only enough oil for one night they didn’t hold it back but lit the lamp— they used the oil. As they did, God multiplied it so that it lasted until the process of producing more oil was completed. Eight full days. The number eight Biblically represents new beginnings.
Often we hold back when we don’t have enough for the days ahead. But, that is because many live in the fear that God won’t keep His promise in our “tomorrow” if we don’t see it today. Yet, it is only what we hold back that is truly lost. If the oil hadn’t been used to light the first night’s lamp then the other nights of miracles would never had happened.
I remember a miracle that happened when my family was living out of our country as missionaries. We only had enough money to buy food for that day. We had four kids and about four dollars to our name. That small amount would buy milk and eggs. But on that Sunday morning at church the Lord asked me if I would give it to Him. I fussed with fear for a moment and then emptied the small amount of provision we had from my purse into the offering. Somehow we made it through the week with what we had and the next Sunday our leaders decided to honor us and asked us to come to the front of the church. They asked the people to pour money into our laps. That morning we received almost $8,000!!! More than enough! My $4 was multiplied into $8,000!! God didn’t need my original $4 but He wanted to pour the oil of His Spirit upon my small faith and watch it grow!
Our Heavenly Father held nothing back from us. He gave His only Son as a light that miraculously has continued to burn and bring forth more sons and daughters then ever could be counted. He is the “servant candle” on the lamp stand of our lives; lighting all the others!
Hold nothing back! When we hold back we align with “worrying about tomorrow!” Trust Him and give what is supplied today and watch the miracle of multiplication touch your “oil” and bring light to your life for many days to come.
Happy Hanukkah— day two!
