A Night To Remember and Rejoice

by Kathi Pelton

The third night of Hanukkah this year is coinciding with Christmas Eve— the eve of our Savior’s birth. As we remember another night of the miraculous light that burned in the temple we also remember the announcement of the angels that the miracle of a virgin giving birth would bring light into the world.

Luke 2:8-20 –And in the same area there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And then an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were very afraid. But the angel said to them, “Listen! Do not fear. For I bring you good news of great joy, which will be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign to you: You will find the Baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

“Suddenly there was with the angel a company of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, and good will toward men.”

Good news of great joy! This light, who’s name is Jesus, has never dimmed or stopped burning. The oil of His love, joy, grace, mercy and kindness still fills the temple and the hearts of all who believe. All the earth us filled with His glory.

Tonight as our family lights the third candle we will remember our Savior and the eve of His birth; his young mother had no room to lay her head as she prepared to bring forth the greatest gift known to mankind. We will remember that He came, He lived among us, He revealed His Father to us and He paid the price for our sin in order to reconciled us to God. Tonight will bask in the joyous and triumphant miracle of His resurrection on the third day!

We join with all the angles to announce “tidings of great joy” to a world that is searching for true joy. Because He lives we now have become a light that shines in the darkness with the miraculous oil of His love and salvation. The miracle oil still burns today. Joy to the world— the LORD HAD COME, let earth receive her King!

The hope of Israel came! He came as a miraculous light in the form of a tiny baby. Yet, the government rests upon His shoulders and His Kingdom has no end. Rejoice, rejoice…Emmanuel has come and is with us always!

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice. From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6-7

Merry Christmas Eve and Happy Hanukkah!

Thank you to all who have stood with us in prayer and support as we prepare to make the 3000 mile journey across our nation on January 4th. We remember Mary, who traveled on the back of a donkey while pregnant with our Savior and we rejoice that our “small hardship” is unto Him!

If you would like to give a gift of financial support as we cross over to live in the Washington DC region (Virginia), we would be so blessed to receive your gift of love. Go give go to: https://www.inscribeministries.com/
