There Will Be New Ease In Direction and Transition

Kathi Pelton

Recently the power steering went out on one of our vehicles making it very hard to turn (steer) in any direction. The Lord spoke to me and said that this is a picture of what many people have been experiencing in the spirit realm. The enemy has sent assignments, that create resistance, against those who are in the process of making directional changes according to the Spirit’s leading. This resistance feels a bit like driving a car without power steering.

This morning our son went out to fix our car’s power steering and as he did the Lord spoke to me and said,

“Watch now as I break the demonic resistance that has stood against My people as they follow Me in new directions. Suddenly they will be able to turn into the new direction with ease. Suddenly the transition time that has been infiltrated with obstacles and potholes will now become clear and smooth.”

The Lord will now take what the enemy meant for evil and He will turn it for your good and your great benefit. Not only will you come out stronger but you will receive double restoration for all of the resistance that you have faced. You will suddenly come into a divine upgrade that will move you into a new ease that brings you great joy.

Rejoice! His victory is sure and the path is being cleared for you to move forward with new ease. Your spiritual “power steering” is now restored!

Step By Step

Kathi Pelton

There is a well-known song by the late Christian artist, Rich Mullins, called “Step By Step.” The chorus declares these words,

“Step by step you lead me. And I will follow you all of my days.”

This is such a simple and yet profound statement. I often receive letters from Christians who are feeling lost and can’t figure out which way to go. Did you know that it is the responsibility of the Lord to make His way known to you? As you seek Him and commit your steps to Him, He will reveal each step. Then you can enter into the rest and trust of a child who knows that their father will make known to them the steps that they are to take.

My husband and I have had to make many decision that there was no way to make on our own; even decisions that would take our family to a new nation. Our wisdom or reasoning could not provide a clear answer or path, so we committed our steps to the Lord and waited for Him to lead. He confirmed His direction and instructions with confirmations that were undeniable.

He is the leader and we get to follow. Every time that my family has faced a new decision or needed an answer, it has come with absolute clarity as we sought the Lord and committed our steps ahead to Him. Often the answer has come in “step by step” revelation; not knowing where the path would take us but being confident in the next step that He made known.

It is important to remember that the steps He orders for you may not make any sense to your human understanding and sight. This was often the case with us. Many times it seemed that the path that was opening before us (and then confirmed to us) was in a direction that was polar opposite of where we thought our lives were going and yet, as we obeyed His clear direction, we ended up in places that were so much higher than we had ever imagined. Our paths are forged by the wisdom of the Lord.

“We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9

God does not have us “guess” at His plans for us. I will not move forward without a clear and confirmed instruction from the Lord. I may have only known the first step but I confidently knew that it was Him. James 1:5 promises that we will receive wisdom as we seek the Lord.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

His timing is perfect in every step you are to take and He is absolutely faithful to reveal to you the next step, so that you can apply your faith with confident assurance to what He has made known to you. If it has not been made known by God then don’t do it!

“The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Psalm 37:23

Wait upon the Lord so that He is the one directing your steps. He will not leave you guessing, because He is faithful to confirm and give you confident assurance in your steps of faith. Faith is not merely hoping or guessing—it is the confident assurance in what He has spoken and revealed to you through His Word and His Spirit.

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1

James 4 makes it clear that to make plans and execute them without asking the Lord is foolishness.

“Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, ‘If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.’ Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” James‬ ‭4:13-17‬ ‭

We don’t know what is ahead but our loving God does! Our plans or good ideas, apart from the wisdom of the Lord, are nothing short of “pretentious”; coming from self confidence rather than the confident assurance that comes from the wisdom of the Lord.

He will make His steps known to you, so wait before you move forward. Then, as His next step is made clear, you can move forward in faith and confidence. His steps are sure and His ways are true. May the chorus of your life’s path be,

“Step by step you lead me. And I will follow you all of my days.”

Finding Your Way In This New Season

Kathi Pelton

Our family is from Santa Rosa, California, where massive fires occurred this past October leaving thousands of homes burned and miles of areas unrecognizable. After the fires, we visited our hometown and drove through the area that was hit the hardest. It was the neighborhood where we raised our children and owned a home; it contained the park that we often relaxed and played in; it was where our sister and her family lived and where some of our dearest friends lived. And it was all gone.

As we drove through the streets, trying to find the home that we had owned, we became disoriented and confused. Every familiar landmark, house, and tree was gone. Even many street signs were melted away. When we found our old driveway (the house was gone), it did not even resemble what we knew it had looked like. All of the trees were gone—the redwood trees, the oak trees; and every sign of life had been incinerated. Every neighbor’s house was gone too. We found ourselves unsure if we were in the right place until we saw the address number painted on the curbside. Finding our way apart from the old and familiar landmarks was like trying to find our way in a foreign land.

Yesterday I spoke with Garris Elkins about this strange journey “home” and how it made me realize that we must have our familiarity and direction in Jesus in order to find our way in this world; especially in this new season. The world is ever-changing, but our God never shifts or changes. He is our “true north”. He is our one constant and sure marker on our journey “home.”

The entire body of Christ has experienced a shift and it happened about the same time as those fires (as we passed through Rosh Hashanah). What we knew before, and how we functioned before, no longer was relevant. It was a time of laying everything down, submitting ourselves to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and yielding our lives anew to His directions and His “markers” for this new season.

Like the address number on the curb that confirmed our location, so Jesus is the marker that we continually look to as we find our way. Our steps, our paths, our words, and our ways must be guided by Him alone.

“Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left.” Isaiah‬ ‭30:21‬

This is how we must walk! We must take His hand like a child traveling with their father, and walk step by step beside Him. We must listen to the Holy Spirit and obey each instruction, not going our own way—or even following the old, familiar ways. This is the path of blessing, fruitfulness, and abundant life. This is the obedience that brings heaven to earth. This is the life that reveals Jesus and brings light in the darkness.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19

A Promise for You…You Will Not Miss His Destination for Your Life!

Kathi Pelton

A short time ago my family moved to a new city (in a new state). It is a large city and nothing is familiar or known to us; no familiar markers or memories…everything is new.

We had lived in Northern California most of our lives where everything was familiar to us. Our families had been in that area for generations. We didn’t need directions or GPS; we knew almost every area by heart. It seemed that every road, every shop, every neighborhood had a familiar memory that made it easy to navigate and we always felt at home.

Now, in this new city, nothing is familiar; there are no memories that point the way home and often we can’t figure out what direction we are driving. As we drive the roads of this new city we have become fully dependent on our GPS navigation systems to get us where we need to go.

The other day I was on my way to an appointment and listening for the (now familiar) voice that instructs me that the next turn is coming up. When I arrived the voice on my GPS announced,

“You have arrived at your destination.”

I was so thankful for this technology in that moment of arriving in the right place at the right time!

Immediately, the Spirit began to speak to me about the new time and season that His people are walking in. He reminded me that just like this new city is new and unfamiliar to me, it is the same for His sons and daughters in this new season. What was familiar before has changed/shifted and we must enter into a new level of complete dependency to get to our destinations.

God clearly said to me,

“Kathi, I am more reliable than any GPS system. I know the plans I have for you and the way you need to go in order to get there. You entered your destination when you said, ‘Your will and not my own.’ And I will faithfully instruct you every step of the way. Rest and move forward and know that when it is time to turn I will let you know. Be more familiar with My voice than other thing.”

As He spoke, peace flooded me. Just as I am able to relax while driving in this unfamiliar place, because I know that the voice on my GPS will tell me when and where to turn (and even reroute me if I miss a turn), so I can relax and enjoy the journey and new sites in this new spiritual season. He is and will continue to be the best navigation voice ever heard.

This is a key verse for the body of Christ at this time,

““Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah‬ ‭43:18-19‬ ‭

Even if our family had not moved to a new city we would still have to become familiar with this “new thing” that God is doing. In some ways it may be easier for us since the lack of familiarity in our natural world has required that all of our senses shift to a new level of dependency and new instructions. Often prophetic people live out, in the natural, a picture of what is happening in the Spirit realm.

I have shared this story with my readers before but it is worth retelling. Just over a year ago our youngest daughter and her husband were going through a huge transition. They were very concerned about making the right decision. One night as I was praying for them the Lord spoke to me,

“Tell them that they cannot miss.”

Honestly, I immediately questioned if that was the voice of my God, but I know His voice and was sure that it was Him. I responded with a question,

“How is it that the CANNOT miss your will? Can’t they make the wrong choice?”

He then answered me by saying,

“Every son and daughter that has committed their plans to Me will have them established by Me. They cannot miss My will!”

Then the verse from Proverbs 16:3 came to me.

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

This is your key to walking in peace and rest in every season of your life. It is vital to commit your plans to the Lord, knowing that He will be faithful to establish them. It is also vital to posture your heart like Mary’s when she said,

“Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” Luke‬ ‭1:38‬ ‭

The Spirit of God is a trustworthy and faithful navigator. He will not lead you astray. He will take you step by step, turn by turn so that you arrive safely at your destination. Every prophetic word over your life has a journey attached to it and as you make your destination “His will” and start moving forward, He will direct and establish your steps.

Here is a promise from Psalm 37:3-7,

“Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him…”

Even if everything looks unfamiliar keep moving forward because He will bring to pass all the good plans that He has for you!
