GIANTS WILL FALL!

By Kathi Pelton

While I was in prayer for someone dear to me, the Lord showed me a vision of them standing before the giant that was opposing them but they were wearing another’s armor that was not made for them. This armor was too big, too cumbersome and too heavy for them. It reminded me of when young David was going out to face Goliath and his brothers offered him their armor but it was too big for him.

What did young David do instead? He went out with what he had and who he was (what fit him); and then with a sling shot, a stone and his confident trust in the Lord he defeated Goliath.

As I was praying over this individual I realized how many people face a spiritual battle by wearing someone else’s armor that does not fit them. The battles and giants that mock them and oppose them cannot be defeated with another’s armor or weapons.

Often people want to pray like someone that they look up to prays, or try to function like them or do warfare like them. God wants his people to be like young David who faced lions, bears and a giant in his true identity and trust in the Lord. He didn’t look like much (merely a shepherd boy) and he surely would not have been picked by the warriors to go out and face this giant down! But David was confident in the name of the Lord.

Have you been wearing armor that is cumbersome and burdensome (and not fitting you) in order to defeat your personal giants? It may be time to take off another’s armor and be your genuine self with the name of the Lord as your confident authority.

Others may laugh and wonder how you are going to face down such huge adversaries without what appear to be the “big guns” but the Lord and His name is all that you need. He IS your big gun! He Is your assurance of victory.

If you are tired, weighed down and burdened from the fight you’ve been in and from trying to figure out “the right way to pray” or “the right words to say” or even the newest revelation that will help you to overcome; then it may be time for you to lay it all down and just go as you are with the name of the Lord as your weapon and watch the giants before you fall.

In some cases the armor that doesn’t fit you is that you’ve been functioning out of your own strength. That leaves you vulnerable, not armored! Your break through may come as you lay down your own strength and surrender to His strength alone.

It wasn’t a stone that killed Goliath, it was the God who was with David when he threw that stone. So rid yourself of the armor that doesn’t fit and go out to face your adversary in exactly who you are and clothed in the confidence of the Lord’s mighty name and strength.

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord. Zechariah 4:6

  1. Good Word!  It takes the ‘load off’ of me (HA!  A Load!) and helps me to lay it all down and just do it the name of the Lord. Thank you so much!   (Hey…wasn’t it Saul who gave his armor to David?  Or was it Davids brothers…i need to go read it again to see.) God less you and your family and ministry.  You’re a blessing to the body of Christ! Claudia Barrington in Jacksonville, Florida.
