Things Are Not As They Appear

Kathi Pelton

The morning after the US mid-term elections I woke up hearing the Spirit of the Lord speak the words,

“Things are not as they appear.”

Although He was speaking of the election outcome, I knew in my spirit that He was also speaking about many things that look one way but there is more going on than we can perceive with our eyes.

I knew that things nationally, corporately and personally should not be judged by sight but by the Spirit of the Lord and according to His faithfulness.

Then, just days later on 11/11 I was drawn to to Hebrews 11:11 that says,

“By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.” Hebrews‬ ‭11:11

For Abraham and Sarah things were not as they appeared either. The promised of a child appeared to reached its “expiration date”. Sarah was no longer in her child-bearing years. But here is the key of faith that most people miss in this verse, “…because she judged Him faithful who had promised.”

Far too often I receive letters or hear Christians talking about how they are disappointed in God because He did not keep His promise to them or a prophetic word did not come to pass in the time frame that they expected.

I have a number of promises and prophetic words that “if I were to judge by my eyes” would appear to be past the season of possible fulfillment. BUT…I do not judge my God on what my eyes see but rather upon who I know He is! He is faithful and I will never cease to declare this or “judge/discern” Him as such. His promises are true and He is forever faithful.

November has been a month of amazing contrast. The natural (seen) world seems to be declaring defeats and destruction but the unseen world is announcing that we have entered a time of “promises fulfilled”. What report will we believe? Will we walk by faith or by sight? Will we judge God as faithful or accuse Him of not keeping His promises or fulfilling prophetic words?

One thing that I have discovered through walking in the prophetic culture for almost thirty years is that I must trust His timing and to posture my life in His faithfulness; even when my eyes see another story playing out before me. In a moment everything can turn and change.

At the time that Sarah received her long-awaited promise everything in the natural realm was narrating the story as one of failure of defeat. But God had the final word and He was the author of her promise and her story. He had a surprise ending that brought forth the promise of a son. She believed God to be faithful and she received her promise.

I see in my spirit long awaited promises that look like the nine month belly of a pregnant woman. The due date is upon these promises to come forth! It is as though I can feel the fullness of time regarding promises of old being fulfilled. Your natural surroundings may be shouting a different outcome and story but the One who is faithful is bringing forth Hebrew 11 promises that seem past the time of possibility.

Posture your life and your faith in the place that declares Him faithful and true. Your story is not finished and He has the final word. Take hope and strengthen your soul in the truth of His faithfulness.

John 11:11 also speaks of a different outcome than the eyes can see and a far more dramatic one,

“After saying these things, he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him.”” John‬ ‭11:11‬

Just as God awakened Lazarus from the dead so He will awaken dead promises and dreams that you have buried. They will come forth and live! He is faithful!

The Wheat Field Vision

On September 11th, 2017 I was taken into a vision where I saw a wheat field that went on as far as I could see in every direction. As I looked out upon this golden sea of wheat, suddenly thousands of butterflies emerged. They flew out from the stalks of wheat and took flight in all different direction. It was one of the most beautiful visions I had ever seen.

What had begun as a dirt field had transformed into a golden field of what appeared to be wheat but was actually thousands upon thousands of butterflies that had just emerged from their cocoons. And, what I thought were stalks of wheat were actually hands and arms that had cocooned these beautiful transformed lives.

Transformation is now happening in the Earth’s fields. Lives that crawled upon the ground like caterpillars have been enveloped in an atmosphere of love by those who worship, those who pray and those who go out to prepare the way. They have created a safe environment for transformation and metamorphosis to occur in lives, cities and nations.

The Earth is Pregnant

We often hear our planet called “Mother Earth”. Though this is not a Christian term, I saw a picture of the earth and she was pregnant and about to give birth.

The church is the midwife that is assisting with the birthing of these multiple sons and daughters. Then suddenly, the time of birthing will arrive. The time of labor and transition is upon her even now and very soon the children will come forth.

Like the thousands upon thousands of butterflies in my vision, so will be the sons and daughters born into the Kingdom of God upon planet Earth.

The Transformation of Cities

Transition is happening not only in individual lives but in cities as well. People are being brought to cities and regions where preparations have been made in the land and in the spiritual atmosphere that will result in a great harvest of souls.

This week I heard a report that in my city alone a thousand people each week are relocating here (Portland, Oregon). A thousand per week!!!

Why? Because the church as been preparing the city and shifting the spiritual atmosphere for many years to make this a place where seeds will grow, where caterpillars can be changed into butterflies, where orphans can become sons and daughters and strangers can find family. It will be a “city of refuge” and a resting place for our God. There are many such cities throughout the earth.

The lost may believe that they are moving for reasons that are economic, political, social or educational but they are actually seeds in the field of that city or caterpillars that are about to transform in the place where prayer, praise and workers have been sent.

God is also sending prepared workers to these cities to complete the preparation and serve in this great harvest and move of God.

Sarah Will Give Birth

The preparations have been happening for many years. The church as been pregnant with the promise of giving birth to these sons and daughters for so long now that many abandoned hope and others allowed hope deferred to give birth to doubt. Like Sarah, who laughed when the promise of motherhood was given to her in her old age, many have laughed at these cities who seem the most unlikely to give birth. BUT GOD!!

Hebrews 11:11 will emerge once again and “Sarah-Cities” will suddenly give birth to the promise of the Lord. Though the waiting time has been long; the promise will come forth!

“It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise.” Hebrews‬ ‭11:11‬ ‭

Transition is happening even now. It is opening the way for the birthing of the promise. Change is in the air and desires fulfilled will be birthed. Sarah’s arms will be filled and she will look into the face of her promise fulfilled.

“Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the LORD. Isaiah 54:1

Spiritually desolate cities will suddenly become cities of joy! It is far closer than we can imagine…though the promise has tarried, suddenly it will be fulfilled.

“When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” Psalm‬ ‭126:1-3‬ ‭
