God Has Promised to Prosper You and Not to Harm You

by Kathi Pelton

God’s promises are real! Do you believe that? His promises of blessings and help are not just nice words to give you false hope but they are promises from God and He cannot lie!

Human hope is more of a “wish” than true Biblical hope which is “assurance”! Many believers live expecting adversity and lack and merely “hope” (wish for) a more positive outcome.

My family had the privileged of spending a number of years as a part of Patricia King’s team in Kelowna, B.C., Canada. I remember during those first years of “living by faith” (often what I’d call “frantic faith” rather than fearless faith) she would often say to me,

“If you put your faith out for lack that is what you will get but if you put your faith in His promises then you will receive what He has promised.”

Our family has now spent many years in full time ministry; being paid through the generosity of those who were moved by the Holy Spirit to support us. In the early days I would spend more time fretting and worrying that we would lack then believing what He promised. This was often how things ended up which reinforced my fear and doubts. It is where I put my “faith”. Yet, God dealt with me according to His love and did a deep work in my heart that moved me from fear to true faith. True faith releases the hope that assures the good result (fruit).

God walked me through a process that took my life from fear to peace. It is a peace that surpasses what my eyes see or my mind understands. It is a peace that is founded in the truth that says it is my Father’s good pleasure to keep His promises and to bless me with all the benefits of being His daughter. It is not your Heavenly Father’s desire to harm you in any way…it is His great desire to bless you with every good and perfect gift.

One of the things that I discovered as He began to walk me out of the bondage of fear was to show me who He is as a Father. I had been living out of an orphan spirit; the poverty spirit is like conjoined twins with the orphan spirit. They walk hand in hand (or head to head); always believing that the Father seeks to punish, demand performance and then leave you suffering with lack, confusion and harm. The person with an orphan spirit deeply desires to be wanted and yet finds it inconceivable that they actually can be wanted or loved. The orphan spirit chains the believer to unbelief because it cannot coexist with the true love of the Father or the peace that comes from this truth. The poverty spirit easily coexists with the orphan spirit because they both are founded on lies, doubt, unbelief and hope deferred. They exist outside of the realm of being a son or daughter who is deeply loved and extravagantly cared for.

When I was set free from the orphan spirit the poverty spirit had to go as well. I began to KNOW and BELIEVE every promise of God. Rather than spend my nights in a sleepless state of trying to figure out how I would find my way out of constant pending disappointment and lack; I was able to lay my head down at night knowing that my Heavenly Father had everything I needed and even things that I desired. I didn’t have to have a back up plan or try to convince myself that God was good but somehow I was bad and deserved this treatment. My faith (or should I say “fear”) had been based on performance and wrong identity; not His promises or in the love of sonship.

Do you dare to believe with the hope that assures that God desires to prosper you and not harm you? The Word of God is 100% truth! You can lay down tonight knowing that He will keep His promises.

Jeremiah 29:11-14

For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the Lord. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope. When you call out to me and come to me in prayer, I will hear your prayers. When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me available to you. If you seek me with all your heart and soul, I will make myself available to you,’ says the Lord.

The Spirit of the Lord says to you tonight, “My child, you can rest assured of my love and promises for good and not evil in your life. Only believe.”

The words “Rest Assured” means that you will receive the best of care…this is the truth!

I heard these words from His heart today for you,

“I am the God who will surely rescue you and restore you. I do not slumber or sleep but am always watchful over my beloved ones. My arm is not too short to reach you. Rest within my arms and trust me. Know that you are being held by me this very moment. I will not fail you.”

Rest in the grip of His unfailing love. Let peace wash over you as you lean into surrendered trust. Let His kiss bring you new life and His arms comfort you with tender care and joyful confidence.
