Oceans in the Desert

Last week I was listening to a pastor and very successful businessman who was talking about the key to his success. He said it is believing the “surelys” in the Bible! First he brought us to Hebrews 6:14 that says,

“Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6:14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Then he brought us to the most known Psalm— Psalm 23, verse 6 where it says,

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…” Psalms‬ ‭23:6‬ ‭

He said that every morning he begins His day by praying and decreeing the “surely” truths over his life. I am calling it “The Surely Effect”!

As he prayed these verses over his life he said that he saw the cartoon character from the Charlie Brown strip named, Pigpen. Pigpen had a cloud of dirt that followed him wherever he went— it went before him, behind him and beside him. The Lord showed him that the “surely” promises of blessings, multiplication, mercy and loving kindness would encircle his life in the same way that the dust cloud encircled Pigpen’s life.

Once again…it is what I’m calling the “Surely Effect.” Isn’t it time to walk in His promises? To agree with, align with and decree them as a promised truth over everything you do and everything you touch?

Surely means assurance and confidence which is the same meaning as HOPE in regards to our faith. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for! It is confident expectation and assurance that what God says it true. He cannot lie!

It’s time to align with the “Surely Effect”! This will renew your faith and become a truth that surrounds you like a cloud of favor and promise.

Yesterday I did a Facebook live that talked about shaking off disappointment and going back to the trust that says, “He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 11:11). Far too often believers align with a false “surely” that tells a lie about our God. It says that surely you will be disappointed, surely you will lack, surely you will fail…and so on! But that is a lie that needs to be trampled like a snake under our feet. The truth is that for every believer, “Surely goodness and loving kindness, blessings and multiplication…and no lack” will follow you.
