Stay In The Moment

Kathi Pelton

I woke up this morning and heard the Spirit of the Lord say,

“Stay in this moment; for that is where you will find grace, strength and peace.”

This is not to say that you should not dream of tomorrow but do not fret about tomorrow. This moment is where grace is found so don’t use it up on tomorrow. God lives outside of time so He is in your yesterday, today and tomorrow…and every day thereafter. He is already there for you and making a way for everything that you need.

Find Him in your now and you will find grace, strength and peace in this moment. His breakthrough has been promised to you and His promise is sure. Take a moment to get back into “this moment” and then realize that He is sitting there with you, holding your hand and longing for intimacy with you. Let everything else go as you trust in your Beloved Savior…He is mighty to save you!

Now breathe!

He Invites You To “Come In” and Rest

Kathi Pelton

As we move into the chilly days of fall and winter there tends to be a greater desire to experience the “comforts of home”. A crackling fire, a warm blanket, dim lights, a hot beverage and the comfort of being surrounded by those we love. Although we get precious moments like these that bring great comfort, the majority of our time is spent working, preparing meals, driving in traffic, cleaning and paying bills.

As I sat down to spend time with the Lord this morning I remembered a photo of our home from a couple of years ago. It was taken as we walked into our front door after returning from a long ministry trip. The warmth and light of “home” (see picture above) was almost overwhelming. It was one of those moments that catches you off guard and immediately fills you with welcome, comfort and love.

This morning as I sat down to be with Jesus I saw Him in this very same way. The door of His heart was open and inside was beauty, light, comfort and love. Peace flooded me as I stepped inside of the secret place where I could rest in His arms. Within His heart there was no demands, no lack, no burden…just warmth and beauty. Today He wasn’t opening up with any expectation except to be together.

Though there are times where the secret place becomes a place where we share His burdens through deep intercession and receive wisdom and strategies for the days ahead; there are also days that He merely invites us to sit before the fire of His love and drink of His lovingkindness. He sets a meal of kindness for us to feast upon and He blankets us with comfort that remains; surrounding us with the welcome of heaven.

For me, today is one of those time. I see Him inviting you into His heart where a “living room” awaits full of the comforts of His love. He will be your holy escape from the chill of the day and He will warm you with all of His goodness. He is not just a comforter for those who grieve but He is also the comforter that gives us a place of home and rest from the busy and fast paced world that we live in.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

He is inviting you today to “Come in.” The door of His heart is open.

Guidelines for Prosperity and Success

Kathi Pelton

It is God’s great pleasure to bring you and all of His people into a place of prosperity and success. Like any good father, He takes no joy in watching His children struggle, fall or live in lack. From the time of creation onward, God has continually been giving His people guidelines that will lead them into abundance.

In the first chapter of Joshua we read these words,

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful.” JOSHUA‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The guidelines of God’s Word are not there to oppress you or burden you but to guide His people into the fullness of all that He has. It is no different than when children play in a fenced yard where they have absolutely freedom to abandon themselves to the joys of childhood and yet if you put those same children on a grassy medium between a two-way interstate with cars speeding nearby they would be at high risk of injury or death if they played freely. Fear removes the freedom.

His Word, His ways, His instruction and His commandments are your freedom! They are also the compass that will lead you into success and prosperity. All the way back to the time of Abraham, Moses and Joshua the Lord spoke of inheritances, land and wealth that He had for His people. This has not changed but neither has the condition that we are to keep and obey His Word and “then” we would prosper and walk into the promised inheritance.

It is not too late to move into living in His ways and obeying His voice. The Lord makes it clear that if we lack wisdom that He is happy to reveal it to us.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

Repentance is like an amazing invitation to breakthrough and change. When men and women leave the place of disobedience (even rebellion) that have robbed them of their very inheritance and submit their lives to the path of obedience then they receive restoration and success.

Let today be the day that all disobedience and rebellion against God and His ways are put aside. What a joy it is when a parent sees their child walk in wisdom and obedience. Their heart is at rest and it brings them great joy. The same is true with our Heavenly Father! What joy it brings Him to see His children walking in His ways and raising up their children in His ways. It creates a generational blessing of abundance, wisdom, success and prosperity.

Far too often do we see young children who are out of control; even within the body of Christ. This is because disobedience breeds disobedience. When we are out of control and view discipline as harsh or cruel (or controlling) rather than as love and the path to inheritance then we create a generational cycle of pain and hardship where people “labor in vain.” Parents who withhold discipline; who view teaching their children wisdom and self control, are actually robbing them of their inheritance. How will they know how to obey the Lord if they have never learned to obey their father and mother? But it’s not too late!

You may not have been raised up by parents who taught you to walk in the safety and beauty of an obedient life; but it’s not too late to learn. We have a wonderful Spirit living within us that reveals our amazing Father. He will train you up in the way you should go so that you and your children can gain the inheritance of favor and blessing that He has planned for you. Peace will follow you, joy will fill you and your children will rise up and bless you.

There is an invitation to all today, it is the invitation into to come into your promise land, into your inheritance and into the fullness of sonship. Invite God to search your life and adjust every place that opposes His ways and His truth. Watch as He turns your mourning into dancing as you walk in the guidelines of God that will prosper you in every way. This could be the first day of breakthrough for you and your loved ones!

You Are Not Alone In The Battle!

Kathi Pelton

There is a reality that we must grasp as those who have given their lives to the King of Kings…we are in a continuous battle! The problem occurs when the battle becomes our focus rather than the King. That battle is the real battle!

The enemy is always plotting ways to draw our focus and our affections away from the One who holds us in the arms of grace and perfect love; desiring to cause our focus to be upon the darkness rather than the light. We are children of the Light and within the light of His promises, His victory and His perfect love we will find peace and rest in the midst of the battles. Yes, the battles are real but the victories are already established in the finished work of the cross.

You may be facing battles that have touched your family, your body, your resources, your mind and your emotions but know this…YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THE BATTLE! Not only are you not alone but the reality is that the battle is not yours but it belongs to the Lord.

Have you taken ownership of the battles that are before you? If so, give them back to the Lord. He has victory in His hand and rest for you that will refresh you and bring you victory.

Refocus your gaze and affections on the Lover of your soul…Jesus! Not only are you not alone in your battle but the King desires to take your battle upon Himself. As you focus your affections and attention upon Him, He will bring you rest. Praise Him for who He is! Praise Him for the beauty of His holiness, the brilliance of His light and the perfection of His love. These are the only weapons you need in the battle and the Lord will do the rest.

You cannot fight these battle in the strength of man but rather they are won in the position of surrender. Not surrender to the enemy but surrender to the Lord. He will bare His mighty arm on your behalf and His strength will defeat the enemies that have surrounded you. It is in the place of our weaknesses that we see His strength made manifest, but we first must embrace the place of “boasting in our weakness” (acknowledging our weakness) so that He can be shown strong.

Remember the words that the Lord spoke to Jehoshaphat,

“…The LORD says this to you: ‘Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15‬(b)

Jehoshaphat’s response to the Lord’s promise was to fall on his face and worship. Of a matter of fact, all the inhabitants of Jerusalem did the same thing. They bowed to worship the Lord.

The next morning they went out to face their enemy and this is what happened,

“When he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the LORD and those who praised Him in their holy (priestly) attire, as they went out before the army and said, “Praise and give thanks to the LORD, for His mercy and lovingkindness endure forever.” When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were struck down [in defeat].” 2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:21-22‬

Lift up your voice and praise the Lord for His mercy and lovingkindness! Praise Him as you go out today to face your enemy. Do not focus on the enemy but on the Lord! Do not fear, do not be dismayed…worship and watch God strike the enemy down in utter defeat!

You are not alone but you must surrender the battle to the Lord, who will set an ambush against the enemy and bring him down in “utter defeat!”

WORSHIP! His mercy and lovingkindness is never failing and never ending. Victory is in the hand of your King. You are not alone but the Warrior King has gone before you with victory.

God Brings Honor to Who He Created You to Be

Kathi Pelton

Last night I was having a conversation with friends about the power of honoring one another. If there is one thing that I have learned throughout my years of walking with Jesus, it is that He always honors me. He has never treated me according to the flesh but honored who He created me to be and has treated me according to that identity. When He sees me, He sees me through the eyes of honor…this is my true reality.

Many years ago I began a journey of discovering how He sees people. This journey changed everything for me. It was like receiving a pair of glasses that changed my eyes from seeing the distorted dishonor that the enemy puts upon lives to seeing the clear and honoring way that our God views another.

As we begin to see others the way that He sees them, it causes us to treat them with honor. Honor will always lifts up the one who has felt cast down.

When I was 14 years old I was already living out all sorts of evil that years of dishonor had defined in my life with. I am so grateful that a man at my high school saw me the way that Jesus saw me. He treated me with honor and it was those actions that eventually led me to Jesus.

Here are truths about dishonor and honor:

• Dishonor drags a person down where honor lifts them up.

• Dishonor exposes nakedness and honor covers shame.

• Dishonor weakens and honor strengthens

• Dishonor imprisons a man and honor sets him free

• Dishonor establishes a lie and honor restores God’s truth.

• Dishonor divides a man from God and honor reconciles him to God.

There are so many more!

The culture of honor is the Kingdom culture that we must treat all men by. As we honor someone according the image that they were created in we actually begin to call forth “Christ in them”. We honor Christ as we honor others. Honor redefines the way someone sees themselves and gives them courage to live that truth out.

Whether it is a family member or a friend, a stranger on the street or a clerk in a store, a rich man or poor man, a political leader or church leader, a child or the elderly…all need to experience honor. Honor is to be shown even if it is not deserved because that is what Jesus gave to us (and still gives to us).

I pray that the eyes of the God’s people will be fully opened to see what Jesus sees. I pray that the actions of the God’s people will be aligned with the honor of the Kingdom of God that knows that all men are created in the image of Christ. I pray that the mouth of

God’s people would speak words of life and honor over lives that have been defined by dishonor. I pray that you will see yourself with the eyes of honor.

One of the favorite sayings in our church are the words from Hebrews 12:24,

“…the blood of Jesus speaks a better word…”

Let’s speak the better word to all who cross our paths today and may honor be found upon every step you take and every word that you speak. Today I declare upon your life the better word that the blood of Jesus has spoken…

“You were created to be honored and to release honor.”

Amen~

It’s Time To Receive Abundant Life

Kathi Pelton

Those who know me well know that 10:10 are special numbers to me. A few years back the Lord spoke them over my husband and I when we moved to Oregon. They represent a couple of different things to us but mostly the wonderful verse in John 10:10,

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].”

We had gone through a number of years that it felt like all that we were experiencing was the thief (we were robbed, our house burned, deaths, accusations…you name it!). Then, suddenly life returned and it returned with an abundance of peace, joy and love. It was a 10:10 moment that has carried on with abundance in our hearts since that time.

When I saw today’s date (10/01) I saw a vision of a sudden “turnaround” for many of you that have faced a long season of experiencing the “thief”. The “01” turned around and became a “10” and before my eyes were the numbers 10/10 illuminating with light in a celebratory display.

You shall have life, enjoy life and it will overflow with abundance! As you have chosen Jesus through the dark season that had been filled with trials, now you will receive His promise of life and all of His benefits with great fullness and abundance.

Declare the overflow! It is yours to take! Declare the abundance! It is His to give to you! Declare the fullness! It is His portion for you! And declare double restoration!!! Because that is who He is!

Instead of your shame you will have a double portion; And instead of humiliation your people will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore in their land they will possess double; Everlasting joy will be theirs.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭61:7

Your abundant harvest is upon you!

Christmas Has Come Early

This new book by Jeffrey & Kathi Pelton is a great gift for for friends and family as we approach December. Order now and give as gifts before December 1st.

There truly is a “reason for the season,” and it has nothing to do with gifts, reindeer, shopping, or chocolate (well, maybe chocolate). But it is easy for us to forget that transcendent purpose as we find ourselves caught up in the materialistic maelstrom that is the modern cultural event known as Christmas. As the end of the year approaches, instead of experiencing an invitation into deeper devotion and wonder and excitement, we find ourselves wondering when, exactly, we seem to have swallowed a lump of coal. If you have ever considered changing your name to Ebenezer for the month of December, then this is for you. Join Jeffrey and Kathi Pelton as they walk through the weeks leading to the Big Day in a winsome and encouraging journey of devotion and discovery, fueled by the lyrics of songs you know–or at least, think you know.

The Enemy’s Identity Theft and God’s Identity Restoration

Kathi Pelton

For anyone who is not aware that there is a war over good and evil, over what is pure and what is defiled, over light and darkness; for those of us living in the United States we have a living illustration as we view a “political war” taking place before our eyes. Although this article will not be about that particular war or my discernment on what is happening, I do want you to be aware that there is a war that we cannot ignore.

There is a war over your identity. The enemy falsely began accusing you as soon as you were old enough to understand having beliefs or thoughts about your value. My five year old grandson already understands this; he is now in kindergarten and already only wants to wear “cool” clothes (Nike is his “cool” of choice because of the swoosh) and he wants his hair done the “cool” way. Why? Because the enemy’s voice (through thoughts, through advertisements and through peers) has already caused a five year old to be self-conscious of the reality that he may not be good enough or acceptable enough before “men” apart from an outward display that conforms to the demanding human eyes that are watching.

If the enemy can slander you at a young age (a process he is highly skilled in) by casting doubt and negative self-image upon you then he can divide you from who God created you to be. Satan’s greatest fear is that you become aligned with God and His thoughts toward you, because if you do then nothing can stop you. The fear of man comes from an identity that has been divided from its divine design. Rather than living from a place of confidence and assurance before God, man begins to live to impress man which always demands more performance and perfection.

The war over all that Jesus shed His blood for is very real. Though the enemy knows that he has already been defeated, he is not going down without taking as many as he can down with him. He isn’t satisfied with a few; he wants an entire generation! He is after the identity of our children and our children’s children. It is the ultimate crime of “identity theft”!

If suddenly every person on our US Senate Judiciary Committee had a revelation of who Jesus is and who God created them to be, there would be no question and no war because no one would feel the need to lie, to divide, or to accuse. The individuals would see the beauty of Christ in one another and in His image in their own lives. They would come into unity and oneness with God and each other and true justice would prevail; bringing peace and harmony.

The war is over identity…God’s true identity (which is continually being misrepresented), over your divine identity that reveals Christ, over your children’s identity that brings a generational blessing, and over the identity of all of creation….which groans and waits for the revelation of God’s sons and daughters.

I call forth God’s identity protection and identity revelation over your life and the lives of your children. I call forth the revelation of the true nature, character and identity of God. I call forth the original intent (identity) in the heart of God over our nation and over the nations of the world. May God arise and divide the thief from your life and release upon you the fullness of the Giver of abundant life (John 10:10). I declare abundant life over you and our land!

A Word for Moms

Kathi Pelton

Today we are driving a long 800 miles to go home after a week with our oldest daughter and youngest son who live in California. Whenever I leave my kids my mom’s heart is torn. I look into their eyes and I know intimately every look, every longing, every need and fear. When we say good-bye we linger in the embrace longer than we ought to and my heart stays in the embrace long after we physically separate.

As a mom I have had to learn an important truth; our Heavenly Father loves them even more than I do. He knows their looks, longings, needs, fears and thoughts even more intimately than I do. Though that’s hard to believe, it remains true. Mom’s often struggle with the compulsion to carry their kids (young or grown) in a way that can quickly turn into anxiety or worry. They are carried with us every where we go no matter their age.

The truth is that my moments of worry have never helped my kids! I have learned throughout the years to daily bring them before the throne of grace and lay them down in the arms of the One who loves them most. The greatest gift that I can give my children is to daily surrender and dedicate them to the absolute faithfulness of God. Though there are days that tears of intercession pour; as I join my heart with the Lord’s regarding them. But when I arise from the place of prayer I am confident of His plans and protection over them. They are then carried in my heart by hope and faith in something and someone greater than me.

If you are carrying your children today in a way that is weighing you down and causing you anxiety then take them to the arms of Jesus. He will take your burden, your concerns and everything that they need into the infinite care of His perfect love. He knows the way that they are to go and He will lead them. He will comfort them and His faithfulness will be proven true in their lives.

In the place of prayer we do our best “mothering”. As we partner with the One who loves them most we become a bridge that they can cross over into the heart of God. In prayer and partnership with God we see fears turn into confident assurance and anxiety turn into peace as we nurture them with a heart that surrenders them to a greater love than our own.

The greatest affect that you will have in your children’s lives will happen in prayer. When they are nearby, hold them close but when you separate (whether to send them off to school or because they have grown into adults) bring them before God and surrender them to His love and care. He is more than enough for all that they need.
