The Lord showed me people who were lying in bed with their minds filled with anxious thoughts that led them to conclusions of dread and doom for the days ahead. But the Father came to comfort them saying,
“Do not fear, do not worry, and do not dread the days ahead for I will do for you what you cannot do for yourself. You can trust me.”
As the people responded in confident trust, the gripping fear washed away and peace restored them to rest in His promises.
If you are being driven by fear and anxious thoughts then the Lord wants you to hear His words of truth and words of hope. He is not unaware of what you are facing and He will do for you what you cannot do for yourself.
Your sleepless nights that lead your thoughts down dead-end roads and hopeless prospects are being exchanged for the deep sleep of a baby in its mother’s arms and the thoughts that bring your hopes into a vast space with abundance before you.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
You will lie down in peace and wake up in joy because the Lord has taken up your cause! Though you have not been able to find your way though the tangled net that you are caught in, watch now: the Lord will rescue you.
I declare peace over you, peace over your mind and peace over your body. Though you don’t feel adequate or able to find your way out of the place that you find yourself in, know this: He is able to rescue you!
“Such is the confidence and steadfast reliance and absolute trust that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God.” 2 Corinthians 3:4-5 AMP
Christ qualifies you for success, for breakthrough and for a positive outcome. It is in yielding your life to the place of “absolute reliance and trust through Christ toward God” that your confidence is restored and you are saved.
Have you ever seen a wild deer caught in barbed wire fencing? It will flail in fear only to find itself held tighter in the snare’s grip. When rescuers come to free the deer they must hold it still in order to free it and keep it from greater harm. The Lord is holding you still and cutting away the barbs and snares that you find yourself caught in. Do not fear for He is with you and freeing you from the tangled snare that you are caught in. He will heal your wounds and He will do for you what you cannot do for yourself!
Be calm, be still and watch to see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf.
Will you help us in September through December? We are asking if you will stand with us by sowing a financial gift into our ministry in September, November and December. We have a strong assignment from the Lord for our nation over the next three months and need those who will partner with us to support the financial side of these assignments. We know that the reward is the same for those who “go” and those who “sow.”
Yesterday I was on a Zoom call and a beautiful discussion began regarding the words in Song of Solomon 8:5 that says,
“Who is this coming up from the wilderness leaning on her beloved?”
We shared deep things about how 2020 has brought the Ecclesia globally into a desert place where He is teaching her to lean upon Him once more.
As we spoke, tears ran down my cheeks as I not only embrace what God is doing today but also remembered these very words that completed a journey God sent me on to save my life 25 years ago.
Though I was already a Christian (even in ministry), I went through the darkest desert experience imaginable for three years. This painful and dark time, which felt like a tomb, concluded with the most amazing and beautiful resurrection where I heard those words spoken to me by the One who I learned to lean on in that desert time— my time in the tomb.
That three year time period began when the Lord spoke to me the words from Hosea 2:14 that say, “But then I will win her back once again. I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her there.”
Jesus took me by the hand to “win me back once again.” There was a great battle and wrestle for my life but Jesus spoke so tenderly to me in that desert place. He fought for me and He won me.
The next verse says, “I will return her vineyards to her and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope. She will give herself to me there, as she did long ago when she was young, when I freed her from her captivity in Egypt.” Hosea 2:15
He had freed me from captivity when I came to know Him as my savior but once again He was going to use the “Valley of Trouble” to restore me and transform me. I was ready to go through the painful process of a metamorphosis that would change everything— transform me into who He created me to be.
I believe that His Bride is in a similar place here in 2020. God’s people have experienced freedom from captivity before but as 2020 began we were brought into a “Valley of Trouble” to be transformed once again. To have our vineyards and fruitfulness restored and to learn to “lean upon our Beloved” once again.
In the beginning of this year I discovered a song called “Lean Back” (by Capital City Music) that captured my heart so deeply. Right before Covid-19 began to shut down our nation I was literally playing that song on repeat every day and soaking in the beauty of His love. Then as we went into quarantine I would hear the words once again from Hosea 2:14, “But then I will win her back once again. I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her there.” It was, once again time to “learn to lean.” Here are just a few of the lines in the song,
— You’ve brought me here to rest And given me space to breathe So I’ll stay still until It sinks in
— And I will lean back in the loving arms Of a beautiful Father Breathe deep and know that He is good He’s a love like no other
— You will never leave Your love sustaining me Before I even knew What love was
I knew that once again, we were being called back to first love. We were being given space in time to “breathe again” while the whole world was saying, “I can’t breathe!” His sons and daughters were being called into a rest that set us apart so that we could become a true resting place for the Lord (a dwelling place). The breathe of God was giving us life and first love.
“For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying, “This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it. I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food. I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful people will ever sing for joy. “Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one. I will clothe his enemies with shame, but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”” Psalms 132:13-18
Here we are now, entering September, and I am still in that place of being set apart to fully learn to lean upon my Beloved like never before. I believe that many are. Though there is busyness all around us, there is still a place of rest and dependency that has found breath, life and first love renewed. I feel constantly undone by His beauty and goodness in the midst of such a contradicting time on earth. As people scream hate and act in violence, my soul has found “a love like no other.”
I deeply encourage you to yield to this time in the desert, in the “Valley of Trouble”, and let Him speak tenderly to you and restore to you all that has been lost. Then, you will hear the words,
“Who is this coming up from the wilderness leaning on her (or his) beloved?”
It is there that we will find rest and become a resting place— a dwelling place for Him.
I wrote this word four years ago today. When I saw it, I heard the Spirit say, “I will do it again!” I believe this “inversion” will effect individuals and national/global circumstances! Here is the word from 8/30/2016—
As I waited on the Lord this morning I heard the word “inversion“. As I prayed and waited further I could see the Lord causing a supernatural reversal to assignments that the enemy had sent against your life. I also saw the enemy turned on his head as the Lord brought these reversals.
I looked up the definition of inversion and this is what it means: a change in the position, order, or relationship of things so that they are the opposite of what they had been.
Though it feels like the momentum of what the enemy has unleashed against you is unstoppable, God is about to cause this supernatural inversion that will not only stop this momentum of destruction and pending doom but will suddenly change of order or reversal of it and as He does you will receive double back for all that has been taken and touched during this time.
Receive and believe! This is your posture.
“When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. Restore our fortunes, Lord, like streams in the Negev. Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” Psalm 126:1-6
Prayerfully consider sowing into this ministry with a financial gift to keep us moving forward in 2020 and beyond. The next four months are a crucial time for us here in Washington DC and our nation. We need many who will surround us with prayer and support.
Last week I went on a sunny prayer walk with my dear friend. As we walked and prayed we began to declare the heavens to open up over the earth and as we did a cloud appeared over us and the rain began to pour. Of a matter of fact it poured so hard that we became absolutely drenched! The next day I received a message from a friend who lives in Switzerland. She had gone out for a sunny day bike ride and felt to pray for me. When she did it began to rain on her with such force that her message said, “I was drenched!” She had no idea what had happened to me the previous day. This morning when I woke up I heard the Spirit speak to me and say, “Tell My people to get ready to be drenched in My favor!”
The Word of God is such a rich resource of wisdom and ways to live by. God’s teaching leads us upon paths of joy and favor. Throughout scripture we are exhorted to trust the Lord and to keep all of His ways (His decrees and commands). Blessings, favor and even long life follow those who submit their lives to His Word.
In Proverbs 3 we are given many instructions on how to live and all of the blessings that follow us as we do so. The first verses begins with an instruction that has a beautiful promise attached to them,
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commands; for they will bring you many days, a full life, and well-being.” Proverbs 3:1-2
According to the dictionary, “well-being” is defined as the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy. I don’t know anyone who does not want comfort, health and happiness!
But there is so much more,
“Never let loyalty and faithfulness leave you. Tie them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. THEN you will find favor and high regard in the sight of God and man.”
Often dogs are known as “loyal.” A great example of this is with our youngest son and his dog, Kiera. He has had his dog since he was a young teenager and she is so loyal and faithful to him. This past year, my son had to move out on his own (into a small apartment) and he was working very long days. Since Kiera is a large dog he would return home and find that she was not doing well cooped up in an apartment alone for so many hours. She wasn’t eating and seemed depressed. Some friends of his fiancée (now bride) offered to let his dog live with them on their acreage until our son has a different living situation.
Though it was a hard decision to make, he knew that this was best for his loyal pup. It has now been about seven months that she has lived with this couple (who spoils her and loves her) and yet, when our son goes to visit her she will run to him with howls of delight and lay on top of his feet the entire time he is there. Why, because she is loyal to him! Though others feed her, love her, walk her and spend all day with her— her loyalty is still with our son. She would rather be with him then anyone else; just sitting at his feet brings her comfort and happiness.
Oh, that we would have such loyalty to God. If only all of His sons and daughters would find such joy and comfort in sitting at His feet and spending time with Him, the church would be a more beautiful place. But the reality is that many treat spending time with Him like a chore or heavy burden but that is because they have yet to discover the beautiful bond of loyalty with Him. And— it is loyalty that produces faithfulness!
Let’s go on with Proverbs 3. The next verses say this,
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways; and He will guide you on the right paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Just as my son’s dog would follow him anywhere, so should our trust, loyalty and faithfulness cause us to follow Him upon the paths He leads us down— even when we do not understand! When God asked our family to move this past January from our home on the West Coast to the Washington DC region, we had NO understanding of why. Yet, we have discovered that as we trust Him and follow Him down the paths He leads us on that they surely are revealed as “the right path.” They don’t always feel good or right at first but as we remain at His feet we find favor with God and man in the places that He leads us to. Our trust is in HIM not in a place or a particular path.
Proverbs 3 does not end with verse 6 but goes on for 35 verses that give instructions, wisdom and all that we gain as we follow His teachings. They are wealth to our lives. Promises such as, “He blesses the home of the righteous…”
There is a need for God’s people to be walking in the supernatural favor that is offered to us now more than ever before. The favor of God will do more to help us than any college degree, employment resume or gift. When the favor with man is added to the favor of God then we see a partnership with heaven and earth that begins to open up doors that we could have never imagined.
I believe that there is a setting apart of those who trust the Lord with all their heart and who will become loyal and faithful to all of His ways. Lukewarmness is being revealed as unbelief and disloyalty; yet, in the love and mercy of God He is imploring (making an earnest or desperate appeal) to those who are lukewarm to become fully faithful and loyal to all of His ways. He longs to bless them with favor and happiness! He desires to lead them on right paths and to pour out His favor upon them. What a loyal and faithful God we serve!
When we have favor we receive beyond what is normal or even due. I am constantly overwhelmed by the favor with God and man that has been given to me. It is so beyond what is due and yet He rewards my trust and faithfulness. Often I am in awe of the benefits of His favor; knowing that there are many that are more qualified for what He allows me to do. He rewards my trust in Him more than He looks at my qualifications. He knows that I will follow Him and will be loyal to Him.
Favor is the key that will open more doors for you than any gift or qualification that you will ever have. Your talents, your good looks, your degrees (education), your determination and your persuasiveness are lost in the crowd of others a million other similarly qualified people; but the favor of God (and man) will trump them all!
Ephesians 2:8 tells us, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” Grace is favor and God’s favor is the power that changes things for us!
God’s favor is resting upon His sons and daughters in this hour! Trust Him with all your heart and nurture loyalty even when you do not understand! He is looking for those who do not need to be put on a leash to follow Him but who will follow because they’ve “tied loyalty and faithfulness around their neck” and will never leave His side.
Favor is about to drench the faithful!!
Thank you to all of my loyal and faithful friends who have stood with us in prayer and financial support during this year. We pray for you continuously and know that favor is being added to your life and household.
Yesterday I woke up with two songs playing in my head simultaneously — I knew immediately that they were from the Holy Spirit to bring hope.
The first song was a line from the song, “When You Believe” (from the Prince of Egypt soundtrack). The line says,
“Who knows what miracles You can achieve (You can achieve) When you believe somehow you will You will when you believe…”
This is a song of deliverance from slavery and captivity. It is a redemption song of old that is declaring another time of deliverance.
The second line was from the song, “When You Walk Into The Room” and it was this line,
“When You walk into the room Everything changes Darkness starts to tremble At the light that You bring.”
I BELIEVE that as we believe it will release miracles in an unprecedented way that we have never seen before. I also had two “memories” come up on FB and both were articles I’d written about “Believing” and miracles. This was confirming of what the Lord is emphasizing.
I also believe that we are about to see Jesus walk into the darkest places and the darkest situations and the darkness will tremble and be blown away by the light that He brings. Everything changes!!
Rise up in faith and declare, “I BELIEVE!”
Thank you to all of our friends and followers who have stood with us in prayer and financial support throughout 2020. We pray for you and your households daily and believe that there is a special blessing coming upon you for your obedience and faithfulness.
We all know the childhood story of the “Three Little Pigs” that has a terrible wolf who comes to “huff and puff and blow their house down.” Some might say that the times that we are living in is much like this little story. There is a very real wolf that is blowing on houses across the globe at this time.
Whenever I hear this child’s story I think of the story that Jesus told of the two foundations in Matthew 7:24-27,
““Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”” Truly the torrential rains and the mighty winds have begun. We are witnessing and even experiencing the contrast of what is built upon the Rock and what has been built upon sand.
For me personally, I have taken this year to “examine my foundation” carefully. I have asked the Holy Spirit it retrofit my foundation and to search for cracks or any place that is not founded on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. When I feel “shaken” I immediately take that area of shaking before the Lord and ask Him to secure it upon Him.
One way to identify the areas that need to be “retrofit” is to watch where you have been shaken as the spiritual and natural winds and floods have come upon your life. In the story of “The Three Little Pigs”, the pigs that built their homes of straw and wood could not withstand the wind of the wolf but the one who built his house of brick was not only able to stand against the wind but also became a refuge for the one’s who lost their homes.
This is a simple and yet profound parable for this time. A “big, bad wolf” has been trying to blow some houses down! This is happening to individual houses and national houses. As we identify the areas that are collapsing as adversity comes— we have the opportunity to rebuild those areas upon a solid foundation. This is NOT a time to “cut-and-run” (because of areas of collapse or fear of collapse) but we are being given a window of time to allow the Holy Spirit to retrofit our spiritual foundation which will not be shaken.
We need the Lord to build our house and to watch over our cities!
“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” Psalm 127:1
Recently I saw a vision of people running away from cities, from regions and from circumstances in fear because it appeared that areas of their lives were collapsing. Yet, in this vision they were running away but taking the same foundations with them. They merely needed to remain still and allow the Lord to shore up their foundations.
Again, this is not a time to run but a time to ask the Lord to examine and spiritually retrofit your foundation! He is the great “home inspector!” Now is the time to ask Him to do a personal home inspection on your life. He will find the cracks and the vulnerable areas that need to be retrofitted to align with the standard of Heaven.
I am asking Him to do that for our family, our city and our nation— and the nations of the world. Do not run on fear but run “to the fear of the Lord!”
“How joyful are those who fear the Lord — all who follow his ways! You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be! Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine, flourishing within your home. Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees as they sit around your table. That is the Lord’s blessing for those who fear him.” Psalms 128:1-4
These are promises that should be manifesting within your home and family. I want the “Lord’s Blessing” upon my home— therefore I will follow His ways and make the fear of the Lord the standard that my foundation is built upon.
I declare the words from Psalm 1281-4 upon your life and your household. I pray that in every way you will follow Him and build upon His standards. May the Lord secure their foundations of His Church so that we might stand and be a refuge to those whose homes are collapsing. Amen!
Thank you to all who have stood with our ministry in prayer and financial support during 2020. We decree the Lord’s blessings over you and your household daily.
The Lord has such beautiful freedom for His people that is found in the posture of surrender. Yet, surrender is one of the postures of the saints that the enemy fears the most.
The conception of Jesus began with an act of surrender by a young girl,
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38
And today, I hear the echo of her words on the lips of those who want God more than they want their way or their will. This sound of surrender is the same sound that resounded through the heavens, through the earth and through hell when Jesus surrender all saying,
“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42
Today, I feel the intercession of Jesus that is praying for His people for another great push of going low and surrendering all. We must remember that in both of these instances— Mary’s surrender and then the surrender of the One she carried in her womb— there was pain and deep personal struggle in the yielding.
I feel in my soul and my spirit that deep , internal struggle (wrestle) of the flesh and spirit happening in so many of God’s people to enter the place that says, “Be it unto me according to your word.” Or, “Father, please take this cup from me, YET, not my will but yours be done.”
We must understand that the posture of surrendering self, surrendering our will, our desires, our comforts and our lives is the sound that opens prison doors to set the captives free. Mary’s surrender, which came at such a high cost, made way for our Savior to be birthed. And, Jesus’ surrender, that came at the greatest cost that will ever be paid, made the way for all mankind to have the opportunity to walk through Him (as the open prison door) to eternal freedom.
The sound of surrender sets you free and it sets the stage for others to be set free from captivity. This act and sound of surrender is so threatening to the enemy that he is raging against it (to stop it) with great force.
This past week, for the first time in a long time, I felt like Peter when the soldiers came to arrest Jesus and he pulled out a sword and cut off the ear of one of the soldiers (although we know that Peter wasn’t aiming for merely an ear but to take his life). I have seen things, felt things and come face to face with that “provoking spirit” that made me want to draw a sword rather than bow down in surrender.
But, as we look at the progression of Peter’s act that drew a sword— it began a domino effect in his soul that caused him to deny Jesus three times. The pain of choosing the sword over surrender was by far the greatest regret of Peter’s life.
This is one of the greatest temptations that believers are facing in this hour. Will we, in the midst of great pain, great discomfort and great personal sacrifice release the sound of the sword or the sound of surrender? I am not talking about the sword of the Spirit but a sword that draws blood, reacts in revenge or takes matters into our own hands.
We must understand that our personal act of surrender (that often comes in a time of great pain and personal crisis) has a far greater effect on mankind then we will ever know. Young Mary’s act of surrender was a very personal act in a private room, and yet, thousands of years later is still resounds with an echo that strengthens us to do the same today.
You may be in a place of great personal pain. You may be wrestling against your thoughts, your will— your soul to say, “Not my will but Your will be done.” You May even want to stand up and draw a sword to stop what is happening before your eyes with a weapon of force (trying to control the pain and control the immediate repercussions) but today I hear the intercession of Jesus for you that is giving you the strength to bow down and surrender to the will of the Lord.
I hear in my spirit the sound of sword returning to it’s sheath, the sound of knees hitting the floor in absolute surrender and even the cries of personal cost, great sacrifice, of pain and of the words, “Be it unto me…”
This is the sound of the disciples of today saying, “I choose Jesus over all other things— even me.” There is a cost in this sound but the cost and sacrifice is creating a frequency that will set you free to truly live and it will echo through eternity with a remembrance like that of the great heroes of faith.
What you sacrifice and surrender in this moment will effect the rest of your life and will ripple throughout heaven, earth and even hell with a sound of freedom.
Put back your sword of the flesh and pick up the sword of Spirit, which is surrender to His word. We do not understand today what our surrender will do for our tomorrow, our children’s tomorrow and mankind’s tomorrow. As you repeat the the words, “Be it unto me according to your word.” And, “Father, not my will but your will be done.” You are shifting the narrative. For each believer that does this “their ripple” will be added to every ripple being released that will created a tidal wave or tsunami that overtakes the enemy.
The intercession of Jesus for you specifically is happening even now. He sees your pain, He knows the cost and He will never leave you or forsake you as you give your all (even when you don’t understand). It will be worth the cost— fruit will come forth from the seed of sacrifice that you put into the fertile soil of personal pain and watered by your tears. He is worthy of it all.
“Not my will, but Yours be done!”
Once again, thank you to those who have stood with this ministry in prayer and financial support during 2020. We need you now more than ever to complete the work that He has asked us to do.
When my husband was attending Bible college in Louisiana, each week we would drive to pick up an elderly blind woman so that she could attend church and have fellowship. She lived in a very poor housing community and because she was blind she never needed to turn on the lights. Each week when we’d arrive we’d find her sitting in the dark. We would enter her one room home and click on the light sthat we could see— and each week, to our horror, the walls would appear to move because the light would expose the swarms of cock roaches that came out in darkness. They had multiplied exponentially in the darkness where a blind person lived. I share this story because I will never forget the shock and horror of seeing this each week when we brought light into the room. All that lurked in the darkness was exposed.
Today as I prayed for our nation I found myself praying that the Lord would “turn on the light and expose all that lurks in the darkness.” Quite frankly— that prayer is not a comfortable prayer because 2020 has surely been a year of exposurer that has left most feeling the same shock and horror that I felt as a young woman when I’d turn on the lights in this elderly blind woman’s tiny home. But if 2020 is a year of clarity and clear vision then we know from Ephesians 5:13-14 that “everything exposed by the light is made clear.”
“Everything exposed by the light is made clear, for what makes everything clear is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you.” Ephesians 5:13-14
In some ways we were all similar to this precious blind woman prior to 2020. We lived in a blindness to what was lurking in the darkness of our nation (and the nations). Although we were not completely unaware of what was hidden by the darkness— we had no idea what was about to be exposed. 2020 has been as though someone came into a roach infested home and clicked on the lights!
Ephesians 5:8-11 says,
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light — for the fruit of the light results in all goodness, righteousness, and truth — discerning what is pleasing to the Lord. Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
The good news is that once you know the gravity of the “infestation” then you can begin to bring the light that “results in goodness, righteousness and truth.” Exposure is shocking and even horrific but once the initial shock and awe passes it is time to clean house!
I personally make a habit of asking God to shine His light upon my life to expose any darkness or unclean thing that may be lurking in the shadows. I long for and earnestly seek to have clean hands and a pure heart. Though I do not enjoy the moment that something unholy is exposed, I am grateful for the mercy of God that brings light so that there is no darkness found within me.
As a nation it is as though we’ve been shaken out of a state of denial as the light has exposed darkness. It was already there but merely hidden from sight. It is hard to view and to look upon such vast darkness but just as in my own life, I pray that the light of Christ would come upon the deep and hidden places of darkness so that they can be exposed and made clean.
What now? That is a good question! His Word carries many answers for us. Although we know that in the end times the dark will become darker— we also know that the light will become brighter. So how do we exterminate what lurks in darkness? Let’s go further in the Book of Ephesians to chapter 6 beginning in verse 10,
“Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.” Ephesians 6:10-12
Our battle in truly not against “flesh and blood” but against “the rulers, the authorities and the world powers of darkness— against spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.” Too many believers in Jesus are battling “flesh and blood” in this hour! Yes, these spiritual forces of evil that rule in the heavens are effecting the actions of mankind but if you’re focused on flesh and blood then you are fighting a losing battle. Just scroll through social media for five minutes and you will see how many Christian’s are battling flesh and blood. The true enemy is not found in the streets of America, in the halls of government buildings, in the media or even in those who lead social media platforms— the enemy is the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens that are controlling these individuals and agencies!
We must read further—
“This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. In every situation take the shield of faith, and with it you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word. Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:13-18
This is not a simple Sunday school lesson or song but a profound truth and strategy from Heaven about spiritual warfare. It’s time to stop talking about the roaches and reporting their movement and begin to “extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one” through truth, righteousness, thr gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God and Spirit filled (led) intercession!
This is not only a year of seeing clearly but it is the year of the “mouth” (Hebrew year that means “Pey” which is the mouth). Our mouths can reveal light and truth. Paul, the writer of Ephesians, goes on to make this request in Ephesians 6,
“Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough in Him to speak as I should.” Ephesians 6:19-20
It is time to open our mouths to “make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel!” We are His ambassadors, clothed in the armor of God— letting light come forth from the very way that we fight our battles and from the words that reveal the Light of the World in the midst of darkness!
Pray that we, as God’s people, will walk in light, in boldness (in Him) to speak as we should. The light that we shine will expose the darkness to all who see. Do not continue to fill your thoughts and minds with every report of darkness but rather be bold and speak forth light. It’s time to take every thought captive so that we can tear down stronghold rather than just pointing them out!
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-6
We need “divine power” that comes through full surrender to the obedience of Christ. We demolish every argument through divine power. “Not by might, nor by power but by His Spirit.”— divine power!
It is time to be bold in Him and reveal the mysteries of light! Let’s stop talking about the darkness so much and begin to be “ambassadors of light!” Although more exposure is still to come and needs to come, we also know that we are the ones to bring the light that awakens the sleeper so that the Messiah will shine the light of His truth to the world.
Thank you to all of my readers who have prayedfor us and send financial support during 2020. We have been able to continue in our ministry and spiritual assignment because of your generosity and support. We pray for you each week and declare multiplication in every area of your life.
In the past two weeks those of us who live in the Washington DC region have received numerous alerts on our phones regarding sudden thunderstorms accompanied by such extreme downpours that flash flood warnings had to be issued. These downpours have been amazing to witness— like signs from heaven. After receiving yet another one yesterday, I was reminded of a dream I had early in 2019, many months before I moved from the West Coast to the DC region.
In this vivid dream a heavy rain began to suddenly and unexpectedly pour; it was a downpour like I have never before witnessed that was more like a flash flood from heaven to earth. As this downpour hit the earth, flashes of lightning were accompanied by the simultaneous crash of thunder as these strikes hit a grove of tall evergreen trees, splitting them in two.
I awoke from the dream hearing the words from Psalm 29:5,
“The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.”
The Message Bible words it like this,
“God’s thunder smashes cedars, God topples the northern cedars.”
This dream came in the midst of the Spirit speaking to me daily about the need for the “fear of the Lord” to come back upon His people so that they can walk and release the fear of the Lord into the earth.
“So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.”
When the enemy comes in like a flood (through witchcraft, perversions, and evil of all sorts) the Lord also comes like a flood to raise up a standard against him. I believe that God’s voice is about to come and raise up a standard! As the fear of the Lord returns to His Church it will release the awe of God that breaks—shatters—everything that has stood against Him.
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20
A flood of evil that is being redefined as “good”has come to call darkness light and light darkness. But the fear of the Lord is about to touch the earth with a powerful strike that brings forth the Lord’s standard.
In my dream it was evergreen trees that were struck by this lightning. An evergreen tree was the symbol on the “Appeal to Heaven” flag that was flown by Washington’s Cruisers (George Washington’s first naval ships). This tree represented “Liberty” or freedom at the beginning of our great nation. Today it has become a symbol of prayer to see God return to our nation.
The definition of liberty is this,
“the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views.”
“the power or scope to act as one pleases.”
The enemy has been rewriting his definition of liberty within our nation and within the nations of the world. It has become a liberty to pursue evil and call it good while oppressing those who call for the righteous standard of God to be raised up. Within the context of the Bible the word “liberty” means freedom. This is the freedom to live apart from slavery to the masters of sin and the world’s systems.
Within the standard of the fear of the Lord we are given freedom from the grip of slavery to sin and to unrighteousness. The enemy has set up a Babylonian culture that enslaves and blinds many from the “way of freedom” that Jesus provided for us on the cross. When Jesus came and died, a way was made through grace for all to be set free.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
When He died the veil was torn and we were given free access to boldly come before the throne of grace and be reconciled with God; enjoying His presence where true liberty is found. I believe that our nation (as well as the nations of this world) are about to see a great “rending of the veil” that has blinded the eyes of the world from seeing their Messiah. The gods of this world have stood like trees, creating a veil that blinds people from seeing Jesus and from the revelation of true liberty and freedom. These “gods” have cast a shadow of darkness that call darkness light and light darkness.
But wait! The Lord has the final say! His voice thunders; breaking the cedars and rending the veil of separation between God and man.
As the Lord returns the awe and the fear of the Lord to His Church it will release a flood and a sound that lifts up a standard that reverses the tide of evil with a tsunami of righteousness and truth.
“The time will come,” says the LORD, “when the grain and grapes will grow faster than they can be harvested. Then the terraced vineyards on the hills of Israel will drip with sweet wine!” Amos 9:13
Now is the time to invite the fear of the Lord to come upon your life, your church, your city, and your nation. You are a part of the whole body and as the corporate anointing is established in the fear of the Lord it will bring liberty, freedom and breakthrough to the individual and the whole.
God is sending an alert to those powers and principalities that resist His ways and His will—
Thank you to all who have stood with our family and ministry throughout 2020 in prayer and financial support. It is because of you that God is enabling us to continue our assignment here in the Washington DC region. We are praying for you continuously.
Recently I have found myself overcome and overwhelmed at the immensity and great lengths that the grace of God is extended to mankind! As we look upon the world (and all of the happenings around the world) and consider what God has looked upon for thousands of years, it merely points to the immeasurable patience, love, and grace within His heart. I cannot stop thinking about His grace and how I cannot thank Him enough for dying to give us salvation through grace!
Then, this morning I woke up at 5:55 a.m. which always reminds me of the verse in Isaiah 55:5 that is all about the “grace of God given to the gentiles.”
“Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come running to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.” Isaiah 55:5
Nations and people groups— the gentiles— the ones found in the highways, byways, and country lanes, those hidden behind the hedges— will be urged to come. Some versions say, “Compell them to come.” Why? Because they will feel more like outcasts and unworthy to come to the wedding feast— but the grace of Jesus Christ says, “All are welcome!” There is room enough for all— the destitute and poor become the guests of honor.
“So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.” Luke 14:23
God’s intention has always been to bless all the nations of the earth. When Jesus came, He first invited His chosen people (the Jews) to come through the doorway of grace and receive Him as their Messiah, but many wouldn’t come (choosing to remain under the law of Moses). The Lord knew the gentiles were desperate for a Savior and for salvation through grace, so He “summoned them to come!” And they came “running to Him.” (Isaiah 55:5)
As I was studying “the grace of God” I came upon this quote by Bob Hoekstra,
“The law of God is unable to set us free from the domination of sin. It was never designed to do that. It was, however, designed to let us know what sin is and reveal our personal and individual proclivity towards sin. The law makes nothing perfect; it only demands perfection. Oh how that causes us to appreciate, to hunger for, to desire growth in the grace of God.”
The law of God (Moses) merely reveals to us that we all have fallen short and are slaves to sin, to our own depravity, so that we can run to the grace that sets us free! This grace truly takes my breath away and yet it is the very thing that breathes life back into all who receive it.
Recently my husband and I have been watching shows based on the history of our nation (Revolutionary War, Civil War, etc) and though there were heroic and beautiful things done during these times— some of the barbaric and horrific acts done by mankind against mankind made me realize that what we see in the nations today are nothing new; the current injustice and hatred and fear are historically what the human race looks like apart from the grace of God and the hope of salvation.
If we put Isaiah 55:5 together with Luke 14:23 we see the words, “summon them” (urgently call— like a 911 call) and “urge them” to come! Go to the most vile sinner and urge them to come to the rivers of grace to be washed in the love of Christ and dressed for the banquet!
Barnes’ notes on the Bible says this,
“So God is earnest in regard to the most polluted and vile. He commands his servants, his ministers, to ‘urge’ them to come, to ‘press’ on them the salvation of the gospel, and to use all the means in their power to bring into heaven poor and needy sinners.”
Therefore, should we be filling our mouths with judgements and hatred toward those who are acting out in the streets of our nation? Or should we recognize that, “But for the grace if God, there go I.” Shouldn’t we be summoning them to come, urging them to receive salvation, making a 911 call in prayer on their behalf. If we could only take the amount of time that people put into posting the reports of how horrific those in the highways and byways are acting and we went to urge them to come— maybe we would see the great harvest come in! If we would compell them, invite them, summon them maybe they would come through the door of grace (if only we would lead them there).
We must tell them! We must understand their need for grace! They need to be urged that there is a way where they see no way:
“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” Romans 5:6
There is hope where they see no hope,
“And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:5
Let’s not forget where we once were, as we witness the depravity of mankind apart from God played out in the streets of America. May we ask God for the compassion that compels us to go and urges them to “come!”
“In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:12-13
The grace of God is the hope for those who are raging against hopelessness. Hopelessness has taken their breath away but the grace of God will breathe life back into them, it will bring peace to the chaos, it will clear the confusion and set the captives free!
We need to understand one more vitally critical thing: the fullness of the Gentiles that will come to Christ will soften the hearts of the Jewish people and bring them to Christ!
“I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ.”
Those raging in our streets may be the very ones that bring the “fullness of the gentiles to Christ.” We must be the voice of hope and lead them to the door of grace where Jesus urges them to come! There is so much at stake and we must be wise— stop raging against their rage and give them a door of hope (grace) to go through.
It is time! Grace to you—
Thank you to all of my friends and followers who have stood with our ministry and our family in prayer and financial support during 2020. No words are adequate to fully express our gratitude. We pray for you by name each week.
