Stay In The Moment

Kathi Pelton

I woke up this morning and heard the Spirit of the Lord say,

“Stay in this moment; for that is where you will find grace, strength and peace.”

This is not to say that you should not dream of tomorrow but do not fret about tomorrow. This moment is where grace is found so don’t use it up on tomorrow. God lives outside of time so He is in your yesterday, today and tomorrow…and every day thereafter. He is already there for you and making a way for everything that you need.

Find Him in your now and you will find grace, strength and peace in this moment. His breakthrough has been promised to you and His promise is sure. Take a moment to get back into “this moment” and then realize that He is sitting there with you, holding your hand and longing for intimacy with you. Let everything else go as you trust in your Beloved Savior…He is mighty to save you!

Now breathe!

He Invites You To “Come In” and Rest

Kathi Pelton

As we move into the chilly days of fall and winter there tends to be a greater desire to experience the “comforts of home”. A crackling fire, a warm blanket, dim lights, a hot beverage and the comfort of being surrounded by those we love. Although we get precious moments like these that bring great comfort, the majority of our time is spent working, preparing meals, driving in traffic, cleaning and paying bills.

As I sat down to spend time with the Lord this morning I remembered a photo of our home from a couple of years ago. It was taken as we walked into our front door after returning from a long ministry trip. The warmth and light of “home” (see picture above) was almost overwhelming. It was one of those moments that catches you off guard and immediately fills you with welcome, comfort and love.

This morning as I sat down to be with Jesus I saw Him in this very same way. The door of His heart was open and inside was beauty, light, comfort and love. Peace flooded me as I stepped inside of the secret place where I could rest in His arms. Within His heart there was no demands, no lack, no burden…just warmth and beauty. Today He wasn’t opening up with any expectation except to be together.

Though there are times where the secret place becomes a place where we share His burdens through deep intercession and receive wisdom and strategies for the days ahead; there are also days that He merely invites us to sit before the fire of His love and drink of His lovingkindness. He sets a meal of kindness for us to feast upon and He blankets us with comfort that remains; surrounding us with the welcome of heaven.

For me, today is one of those time. I see Him inviting you into His heart where a “living room” awaits full of the comforts of His love. He will be your holy escape from the chill of the day and He will warm you with all of His goodness. He is not just a comforter for those who grieve but He is also the comforter that gives us a place of home and rest from the busy and fast paced world that we live in.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

He is inviting you today to “Come in.” The door of His heart is open.

The Wind of His Spirit is Blowing…Igniting His Burning Ones

Kathi Pelton

My husband and I have the honor of pastoring an amazing group of young adults. On Monday night we had our worship and equipping night in downtown Portland. We have been teaching a series on “Discernment” and as we prepared to teach we discerned that we were to wait (rather than teach) because we sensed a wind of the Spirit beginning to blow upon our time together. As our worship team began to sing, what had began as a gentle breeze of His Spirit suddenly became a mighty wind upon every person present. We were sovereignty taken into what I’d call “throne room worship” as we joined with the angels and sang, “Holy, Holy, Holy.” The wind of His Spirit was blowing away obstacles and fanning into flame the beautiful gift of God upon this generation. They fully yielded to His wind and they became burning ones. We were taken into encounters that lasted the whole night.

Then, early this morning as I sat down to spend time with the Lord I noticed a lot of noise outside. When I looked out the window the wind was blowing so hard (it still is as I write this) that things were being blown over. Again, I discerned that a wind of His Spirit has come to blow upon His people. This sovereign wind will blow away the darkness and fan into flame the “burning ones”. You may feel as though you are merely a spark or ember but when His wind touches you…you will burn with a holy fire. Darkness will flee from lives, families, cities and nations because the light of these burning ones will expose the darkness. It will bring deliverance (a way out) for those who have been lost in darkness. It will bring revival and reformation for those who have hungered for the Lord and it will ignite cities to be “lights on a hill” and a refuge for all.

A shift has happened which has released the wind of heaven to blow upon the earth. The worship of heaven will become the worship on earth and will come upon earthly vessels. When you discern the gentle breeze of His Spirit beginning to blow…STOP! Let it blow upon you and enter into it. Let it fan into flame the very gift of God within you and ignite you with a fire that is unquenchable.

I hear the Lord saying to the United States of America,

“Do you feel the wind of My Spirit beginning to blow? Can you discern that the small cloud overhead is the sign of an abundance of rain? Do you see that fire is about to fall on your offering? Watch for the wind, the rain and the fire of Heaven to fall upon your nation. Prophesy it, declare it and believe it!”

We come into agreement with His word and we prophesy to the gentle breeze that a mighty wind is about to blow. We prophesy to the cloud that an abundance of rain is about to fall. We prophesy over the offering that His revival fire is about to ignite us! Blow on our nation, reign over our land and send holy fire upon Your people. May Your wind send the sparks of what is ignited in the United States to our neighbors in the north and our neighbors in the south; igniting them with your holy fire. May it blow over the waters and touch the nations with the elements of heaven.

Today, we invite your wind to blow away the darkness and ignite the holy fires of revival. Your rain (and reign) of abundance will fall upon your people causing a tsunami of power and love to flood the nations.

You Are Not Alone In The Battle!

Kathi Pelton

There is a reality that we must grasp as those who have given their lives to the King of Kings…we are in a continuous battle! The problem occurs when the battle becomes our focus rather than the King. That battle is the real battle!

The enemy is always plotting ways to draw our focus and our affections away from the One who holds us in the arms of grace and perfect love; desiring to cause our focus to be upon the darkness rather than the light. We are children of the Light and within the light of His promises, His victory and His perfect love we will find peace and rest in the midst of the battles. Yes, the battles are real but the victories are already established in the finished work of the cross.

You may be facing battles that have touched your family, your body, your resources, your mind and your emotions but know this…YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THE BATTLE! Not only are you not alone but the reality is that the battle is not yours but it belongs to the Lord.

Have you taken ownership of the battles that are before you? If so, give them back to the Lord. He has victory in His hand and rest for you that will refresh you and bring you victory.

Refocus your gaze and affections on the Lover of your soul…Jesus! Not only are you not alone in your battle but the King desires to take your battle upon Himself. As you focus your affections and attention upon Him, He will bring you rest. Praise Him for who He is! Praise Him for the beauty of His holiness, the brilliance of His light and the perfection of His love. These are the only weapons you need in the battle and the Lord will do the rest.

You cannot fight these battle in the strength of man but rather they are won in the position of surrender. Not surrender to the enemy but surrender to the Lord. He will bare His mighty arm on your behalf and His strength will defeat the enemies that have surrounded you. It is in the place of our weaknesses that we see His strength made manifest, but we first must embrace the place of “boasting in our weakness” (acknowledging our weakness) so that He can be shown strong.

Remember the words that the Lord spoke to Jehoshaphat,

“…The LORD says this to you: ‘Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15‬(b)

Jehoshaphat’s response to the Lord’s promise was to fall on his face and worship. Of a matter of fact, all the inhabitants of Jerusalem did the same thing. They bowed to worship the Lord.

The next morning they went out to face their enemy and this is what happened,

“When he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the LORD and those who praised Him in their holy (priestly) attire, as they went out before the army and said, “Praise and give thanks to the LORD, for His mercy and lovingkindness endure forever.” When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were struck down [in defeat].” 2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:21-22‬

Lift up your voice and praise the Lord for His mercy and lovingkindness! Praise Him as you go out today to face your enemy. Do not focus on the enemy but on the Lord! Do not fear, do not be dismayed…worship and watch God strike the enemy down in utter defeat!

You are not alone but you must surrender the battle to the Lord, who will set an ambush against the enemy and bring him down in “utter defeat!”

WORSHIP! His mercy and lovingkindness is never failing and never ending. Victory is in the hand of your King. You are not alone but the Warrior King has gone before you with victory.

God Brings Honor to Who He Created You to Be

Kathi Pelton

Last night I was having a conversation with friends about the power of honoring one another. If there is one thing that I have learned throughout my years of walking with Jesus, it is that He always honors me. He has never treated me according to the flesh but honored who He created me to be and has treated me according to that identity. When He sees me, He sees me through the eyes of honor…this is my true reality.

Many years ago I began a journey of discovering how He sees people. This journey changed everything for me. It was like receiving a pair of glasses that changed my eyes from seeing the distorted dishonor that the enemy puts upon lives to seeing the clear and honoring way that our God views another.

As we begin to see others the way that He sees them, it causes us to treat them with honor. Honor will always lifts up the one who has felt cast down.

When I was 14 years old I was already living out all sorts of evil that years of dishonor had defined in my life with. I am so grateful that a man at my high school saw me the way that Jesus saw me. He treated me with honor and it was those actions that eventually led me to Jesus.

Here are truths about dishonor and honor:

• Dishonor drags a person down where honor lifts them up.

• Dishonor exposes nakedness and honor covers shame.

• Dishonor weakens and honor strengthens

• Dishonor imprisons a man and honor sets him free

• Dishonor establishes a lie and honor restores God’s truth.

• Dishonor divides a man from God and honor reconciles him to God.

There are so many more!

The culture of honor is the Kingdom culture that we must treat all men by. As we honor someone according the image that they were created in we actually begin to call forth “Christ in them”. We honor Christ as we honor others. Honor redefines the way someone sees themselves and gives them courage to live that truth out.

Whether it is a family member or a friend, a stranger on the street or a clerk in a store, a rich man or poor man, a political leader or church leader, a child or the elderly…all need to experience honor. Honor is to be shown even if it is not deserved because that is what Jesus gave to us (and still gives to us).

I pray that the eyes of the God’s people will be fully opened to see what Jesus sees. I pray that the actions of the God’s people will be aligned with the honor of the Kingdom of God that knows that all men are created in the image of Christ. I pray that the mouth of

God’s people would speak words of life and honor over lives that have been defined by dishonor. I pray that you will see yourself with the eyes of honor.

One of the favorite sayings in our church are the words from Hebrews 12:24,

“…the blood of Jesus speaks a better word…”

Let’s speak the better word to all who cross our paths today and may honor be found upon every step you take and every word that you speak. Today I declare upon your life the better word that the blood of Jesus has spoken…

“You were created to be honored and to release honor.”

Amen~

This Is How We Pray For Our Nation To See The Victory

Kathi Pelton

“…for I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute.” Luke 21:15

When enemies rise up against you or against those who stand for righteousness; the Lord will fill your mouth with words and wisdom that silence your foes! Many have arisen to stand as enemies against the righteousness of God and His people who stand for righteousness.

We pray for our nation’s leaders that are standing for Biblical truth and justice. “God, fill their mouths with Your utterances and give them wisdom that their opponents cannot resist or refute.”

“Your hand will be lifted up against your adversaries, And all your enemies will be cut off.” Micah 5:9

As we have seen a public display of “those who curse us and send curses against us” arise (though they have always been there); as God’s people we will posture our lives and direct our prayers according to Luke 6:28,

“…bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”

We speak and declare blessings of salvation upon all those who have sent curses against God and His people and we pray mercy for them; knowing how much the Lord loves each one of them. This is the desire of the Lord,

“…not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.”

May God open the eyes of the spiritually blind and the ears of the spiritually deaf to see the beauty of His holiness. May judgement fall upon the dark forces that have deceived them and may the people be spared and come to repentance.

In 2 Chronicles 20, God’s people were facing a fierce and vast enemy that sought to displace and destroy them. Together they came before the Lord and cried out for His wisdom and His help. He answered them with these words,

“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.”” II Chronicles‬ ‭20:17‬ ‭

When they went out the next morning to face their enemies they announced these words,

“…Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.””

‭‭II Chronicles‬ ‭20:20‬(b)

Then they appointed singers who would began to sing and “praise the beauty of His holiness.” They went out before the enemy army singing,

“Praise the LORD, For His mercy endures forever.” II Chronicles‬ ‭20:21

As they began to sing THE LORD SET AN AMBUSH AGAINST THEIR ENEMIES and they were defeated. He filled their mouths with praise and then HE defeated their enemies.

Let us pray, let us praise and let us sing of the beauty of His holiness. Do not be afraid or dismayed as you look upon the enemies who have risen up against the God’s appointed people, for the battle belongs to the Lord!

Amen~~

Christmas Has Come Early

This new book by Jeffrey & Kathi Pelton is a great gift for for friends and family as we approach December. Order now and give as gifts before December 1st.

There truly is a “reason for the season,” and it has nothing to do with gifts, reindeer, shopping, or chocolate (well, maybe chocolate). But it is easy for us to forget that transcendent purpose as we find ourselves caught up in the materialistic maelstrom that is the modern cultural event known as Christmas. As the end of the year approaches, instead of experiencing an invitation into deeper devotion and wonder and excitement, we find ourselves wondering when, exactly, we seem to have swallowed a lump of coal. If you have ever considered changing your name to Ebenezer for the month of December, then this is for you. Join Jeffrey and Kathi Pelton as they walk through the weeks leading to the Big Day in a winsome and encouraging journey of devotion and discovery, fueled by the lyrics of songs you know–or at least, think you know.
