Faith, Finances and Fruitfulness

by Kathi Pelton

Today I was reminded of the story in John 6 of the boy who offered his lunch (loaves and fish) to the Lord. It is such a beautiful example of what God can do with our offering.

“‘There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many? Jesus said, ‘Have the people sit down.’ Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, ‘Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost. ‘ So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, ‘This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!’” John‬ ‭6:9-14‬ ‭

The offerings that we bring often feel insignificant compared to the great need that is before us. But when all that we have (both small and large) is placed into the Lord’s hands, He blesses it and multiplied it to feed the multitudes. Not only that—there is always more than enough with leftovers that exceed the original offering. In this story the boy who offered his lunch not only still ate and was “filled” but I believe that this increase was counted to his credit! Not only were the people’s hunger satisfied but the miracle of multiplication revealed Jesus to the masses. They believed!

This seemingly small act of faith on the part of this boy brought increased fruitfulness not only for him but for the multitudes. It is still revealing Jesus today and increasing the faith of those who merely have “a lunch” to offer.

My husband and I have been in full-time ministry for many years. The majority of our time in ministry we have been supported by those who the Lord prompted to support us financially. On an emotional level this was a hard adjustment for us when we started on that path. We had been used to being the ones who supported others and suddenly needed to be supported. When God called us to live in another country to oversee a house of prayer, we had to “go” and trust that the Lord would bring generous givers to surround our lives as we gave our “yes” to His call. We quickly had to learn absolute trust and thanksgiving in times of plenty and times of hunger.

Throughout the years of living upon the support of others (amazing and beautiful people!), we had to come to terms with the truth that Paul speaks of in Philippians 4 regarding his own ministry and support, when he writes, “Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.”

Our hearts, like Paul’s, have always been to give our all and give our “yes” to all that the Lord asks of us (whether giving or going). Though there are times of great struggle and sacrifice, we know that He is worthy of it all. We have come to understand through these verses in Philippians 4 that the burden or weight that we often felt as people supported us was wrong thinking. Let’s look at what Paul says about those who supported him and the work he was doing,

“Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.” Philippians‬ ‭4:14-20‬ ‭

God equally credits the fruitfulness of Paul’s ministry to those who stood in the place of support. Although Paul was the mouthpiece (and he was credited for that), those who offered financial support gave “an acceptable and pleasing offering to the Lord” and it was credited to them for all the fruit that came forth.

It is a partnership! One is not greater than the other because one cannot exist without the other. I live in the confident assurance that those who give are benefiting from the fruitfulness that comes from the work of those they give to. In light of this truth we all can focus on the work before us and pray for the increase of Kingdom fruitfulness; being confident that those hard working supporters are being blessed equally as much. The reward for the one who goes and the one who gives is the same!

I am sharing this because there is so much misunderstanding about this partnership and about the role of those who give and those who go. Often people hold back because they feel as though they give with no return. Or they give only a small measure because they feel as though all the fruit goes to those who are the mouthpiece or instrument of “going.” But according to Paul, he is able to “seek the fruit that was increased because of those who gave!” There must be those who plant the seed and those who water the seed. God sees both with equal importance, impact. and honor.

The one that “goes” and the one that “gives” are rewarded the same and credited for the increase of fruitfulness. Both take a posture of faith and live by faith even in two different roles.

I pray that this understanding takes the pressure off those who go and adds a blessing upon those that give. I have been in both roles; those who have given and those who have gone, and one was not above the other or more honorable than the other. No matter what role the Lord has called you to stand in; the increase of fruitfulness is credited to you. It is a pleasing sacrifice that will bring the increase of fruitfulness upon your life as well.

The Weight of His Kabod Glory Will Come Upon You!

by Kathi Pelton

This morning I was listening to Nate Johnston’s FB Live where he talks about getting rid of yokes and receiving new mantles. As he spoke I heard the Spirit of the Lord say,

“I am exchanging the heavy yoke upon My people’s shoulders for the mantle that carries the ‘weight of My glory’.”

If you are laboring with a heavy yoke and burden…now is the time to cast it off and ask for the mantle that fits you, was made for you and will rest the “weight of His glory” upon your life!

The enemy is trying to weigh many down with burdens that want to move them from the place of intimacy to a place of control or from a posture of grace to the works of the flesh. He wants you to take matters into your own hands so that you will stop seeking “first the Kingdom of God.” The enemy knows that as you seek first the Kingdom that all things will be added to you and that is a double blow to his demonic agenda.

God is saying that this is not the time to take a heavy yoke upon yourself but to take up the His light yoke and receive His mantle that will upgrade you and propel you forward with anointing and intimacy. I have talked to many people lately that have been experiencing unusual shoulder pain, neck pain and back pain. I believe that these are physical signs of assignments that have placed a heavy yoke upon God’s people to separate them from peace, grace and intimacy.

God is sending the “weight of His glory” upon those who will ask. There is a divine exchange offered that will take the heavy yoke off of your shoulders and cover you with the double portion mantle that will set you in place with anointing and the weight of His presence. This is the “Kabod” (glory) which means abundance, honor and glory!

I encourage you to watch Nate Johnston’s FB live from this morning where he will minister to you regarding this very subject. I’ve posted it on my page. Nate’s FB page can be found at: https://m.facebook.com/natejamesjohnston

Be Still…God is in Control!

by Kathi Pelton

Last year a friend sent this photo of the still waters of the harbor where she lives and wrote the words,

“Be still and know that I am God.”

She did not know that the night prior I had gone to bed with a bit of a wrestle in my soul against concerns that were out of my control. Whenever this “wrestle or stirring” in my soul begins to occur (disrupting peace) I become aware that the enemy seeks to steal my peace, my stillness (posture of trust and abiding in His faithfulness), and create striving. The enemy comes to make waves in order to block the view of Jesus.

When Jesus called Peter to walk to Him upon the water, they were on a stormy sea with waves that would have easily hindered Peter’s view of the Lord’s outstretched hand. As the waves blocked his view, fear set in and Peter began to sink beneath the raging sea. This is such a clear illustration of what the enemy tries to do with the storms of life and the waves of circumstances.

The One who calms the seas calls us to come out from the natural into the supernatural (walking on the water of faith) but the one who stirs the waters of fear will always try to block our view so that we will sink under the powerful force of the natural (seen) realm so that we will abandon faith for fear.

God speaks over the storms of life, “Peace be still”

He speaks over your life, “Be still and know that I am God.”

Our faith in this truth calms the storms of our souls and takes us into the supernatural ability to walk upon the water. Faith makes a pathway in which we can walk out to take hold of the outstretched hand of the One who has authority over every natural, created thing.

“The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Psalm 118:6

Do not fear! If God is for us then who can stand against us? Who can stop the Lord Almighty? No one…not one!

Today, speak in faith to your soul, “Be still.” Walk out upon the natural storm that surrounds you and do not sink under the waves that rage with fearful intimidations of doom. Take hold of the outstretched hand of Jesus who will lift you above the natural into the supernatural stillness, peace, and rest of abiding in the shadow of His wing.

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.””

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91:1-2, 4-16‬

Christmas Eve: The Wonder!

Christmas 🎄 Eve is my favorite day!

I love the wonder and excitement in the face of children, the carefully chosen and colorfully wrapped gifts nestled under the tree, the stockings hung and filled with little treasures, the Christmas story being read by fathers, the smell of freshly baked cookies coming from kitchens, new Christmas pajamas being worn and little ones being cuddled and the glow of Christmas lights that bring peace and joy to all who see them.

May this day be all of those things and more for you and your family. Most of all…may the lasting joy of the Savior that was born to us be what makes this Christmas one to be treasured and cherished throughout the years to come. Love came down and He still brings wonder, excitement, gifts, treasures, warmth, embrace, light, joy and peace to all who let Him in.

Merry Christmas Eve from the Pelton family!

You Are Not Alone In The Battle!

Kathi Pelton

There is a reality that we must grasp as those who have given their lives to the King of Kings…we are in a continuous battle! The problem occurs when the battle becomes our focus rather than the King. That battle is the real battle!

The enemy is always plotting ways to draw our focus and our affections away from the One who holds us in the arms of grace and perfect love; desiring to cause our focus to be upon the darkness rather than the light. We are children of the Light and within the light of His promises, His victory and His perfect love we will find peace and rest in the midst of the battles. Yes, the battles are real but the victories are already established in the finished work of the cross.

You may be facing battles that have touched your family, your body, your resources, your mind and your emotions but know this…YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THE BATTLE! Not only are you not alone but the reality is that the battle is not yours but it belongs to the Lord.

Have you taken ownership of the battles that are before you? If so, give them back to the Lord. He has victory in His hand and rest for you that will refresh you and bring you victory.

Refocus your gaze and affections on the Lover of your soul…Jesus! Not only are you not alone in your battle but the King desires to take your battle upon Himself. As you focus your affections and attention upon Him, He will bring you rest. Praise Him for who He is! Praise Him for the beauty of His holiness, the brilliance of His light and the perfection of His love. These are the only weapons you need in the battle and the Lord will do the rest.

You cannot fight these battle in the strength of man but rather they are won in the position of surrender. Not surrender to the enemy but surrender to the Lord. He will bare His mighty arm on your behalf and His strength will defeat the enemies that have surrounded you. It is in the place of our weaknesses that we see His strength made manifest, but we first must embrace the place of “boasting in our weakness” (acknowledging our weakness) so that He can be shown strong.

Remember the words that the Lord spoke to Jehoshaphat,

“…The LORD says this to you: ‘Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15‬(b)

Jehoshaphat’s response to the Lord’s promise was to fall on his face and worship. Of a matter of fact, all the inhabitants of Jerusalem did the same thing. They bowed to worship the Lord.

The next morning they went out to face their enemy and this is what happened,

“When he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the LORD and those who praised Him in their holy (priestly) attire, as they went out before the army and said, “Praise and give thanks to the LORD, for His mercy and lovingkindness endure forever.” When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were struck down [in defeat].” 2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:21-22‬

Lift up your voice and praise the Lord for His mercy and lovingkindness! Praise Him as you go out today to face your enemy. Do not focus on the enemy but on the Lord! Do not fear, do not be dismayed…worship and watch God strike the enemy down in utter defeat!

You are not alone but you must surrender the battle to the Lord, who will set an ambush against the enemy and bring him down in “utter defeat!”

WORSHIP! His mercy and lovingkindness is never failing and never ending. Victory is in the hand of your King. You are not alone but the Warrior King has gone before you with victory.

There truly is a “reason for the season,” and it has nothing to do with gifts, reindeer, shopping, or chocolate (well, maybe chocolate). But it is easy for us to forget that transcendent purpose as we find ourselves caught up in the materialistic maelstrom that is the modern cultural event known as Christmas. God Will Do For You What You Cannot Do For Yourself

Kathi Pelton

The Lord showed me people who were lying in bed with their minds filled with anxious thoughts that led them to conclusions of dread and doom for the days ahead. But the Father came to comfort them saying,

“Do not fear, do not worry, and do not dread the days ahead for I will do for you what you cannot do for yourself. You can trust me.”

As the people responded in confident trust, the gripping fear washed away and peace restored them to rest in His promises.

If you are being driven by fear and anxious thoughts then the Lord wants you to hear His words of truth and words of hope. He is not unaware of what you are facing and He will do for you what you cannot do for yourself.

Your sleepless nights that lead your thoughts down dead-end roads and hopeless prospects are being exchanged for the deep sleep of a baby in its mother’s arms and the thoughts that bring your hopes into a vast space with abundance before you.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

You will lie down in peace and wake up in joy because the Lord has taken up your cause! Though you have not been able to find your way though the tangled net that you are caught in, watch now: the Lord will rescue you.

I declare peace over you, peace over your mind and peace over your body. Though you don’t feel adequate or able to find your way out of the place that you find yourself in, know this: He is able to rescue you!

“Such is the confidence and steadfast reliance and absolute trust that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:4-5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Christ qualifies you for success, for breakthrough and for a positive outcome. It is in yielding your life to the place of “absolute reliance and trust through Christ toward God” that your confidence is restored and you are saved.

Have you ever seen a wild deer caught in barbed wire fencing? It will flail in fear only to find itself held tighter in the snare’s grip. When rescuers come to free the deer they must hold it still in order to free it and keep it from greater harm. The Lord is holding you still and cutting away the barbs and snares that you find yourself caught in. Do not fear for He is with you and freeing you from the tangled snare that you are caught in. He is doing for you what you cannot do for yourself!

Be calm, be still and watch to see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf.

There Is Strength For The Weary

Kathi Pelton

As I was taking time in a garden to wait upon the Lord, I heard Him speaking these words,

“I give strength to the weary.”

As His people take time to cease from their constant busyness and sit with Him, He will increase their strength so that they will be set free from a deep weariness that produces powerlessness. The enemy is attempting to wear people down through distractions and busy activities but it is important to allow the Holy Spirit to order our steps and activities so that we have time for the One who renews our strength. It is in these “set apart” times that we are strengthened and refreshed as well as receive a reset (reordering) of our steps and the rhythm of our movements in life.

Remember that even God rested on the seventh day! People often do not know how to stop and rest. Waiting is a lost art and yet such a vital one. Waiting is not inactive but it is a discipline of actively and intentionally stopping the dictating demands of this world to allow our bodies, souls and spirits to be strengthened with power for the journey ahead. Just as a vehicle must stop to be refueled, so we must stop for the refueling of our spirits that nourish and restore our souls.

“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:28-31

Exhaustion is not effective for relationship with God, family or for the peace that we personally need. We learn the beauty of trust that is formed in the secret place. We must learn to soar like eagles in the resting place and we must find the strength to walk and to run from the still places. As we take time to rest and wait we will be continually renewed and refueled. We will run the race with strength and effectiveness only as we take those moments to stop and allow Him to refill us.

These still moments are not about intercession or deep prayers but rather about taking time to wait. Listen to the birds singing, the breeze blowing, creations praise. You will find Him there.

He is waiting for you!

Watch As God Vindicates You!

Kathi Pelton

Has the enemy formed a weapon against you? If you are a believer then he surely has. He may have even wielded that weapon against you. But that is not the end of the story because God will vindicate you and bring justice on your behalf!

“No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.” Isaiah 54:17

I hear in my spirit the sound of weapons being formed, and the mocking of the enemy as he plans how to use these weapons; but at the same time I hear the sound of the wind that accompanies myriads of angels that have been sent out to do battle on your behalf. I hear the sound of the Lord rising from His throne and baring His arm of justice on behalf of His sons and daughters.

What the enemy has formed against you will suddenly backfire upon him and his cohorts. Not only will you be vindicated, but the very areas in your life that allow “passage” or open doors to some of the attacks that have come against you will be healed and replaced by God’s perfect love.

The enemy will wish that he never touched you!

“For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.” Psalm 135:14

You will not only receive God’s vindication, but you will be shown His compassion, which will heal you.

Rest now in the knowledge that God has not abandoned you, nor has he been unaware of the afflictions sent as a weapon against you. You can enter into His peace in the storm, knowing that He will vindicate you and not allow the weapon that has been formed against you to prosper. You will be the one who prospers as God turns the tables.

“Say to those who have an anxious heart, ‘Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.’” Isaiah 35:4

Keep your heart pure, rest in His love, and walk in His counsel and righteousness, so that you do not align with the weapon that has been formed. As “tongues” (words) have become weapons formed against you, be sure that your words remain pure and undefiled.

It is time to deal with the tongues of demons with the tongues of the Spirit. I have been praying in my heavenly language more than ever before. There are prayers and intercession that are going forth that bring agreement with the intercession of Jesus. This deep and powerful intercession is aiding the angelic armies who have been released to fight on your behalf. The sound of your heavenly language is silencing the tongues of demons that have become a weapon formed against you.

Watch and pray…you will see the vindication of the Lord.

He Gives Rest to the Weary

Kathi Pelton

As I sat down to pray and write today, Papa God poured His deep compassion over me for His sons and daughters who are battle-weary. The compassion that flowed in me felt like strong arms reaching out to hold and lift up the weary ones. As this embrace from Papa God enveloped me for the “weary ones” I heard the words from Matthew 11:28-30:

“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’”

Allow all of the weariness, the heaviness, and the pain to fall at His feet as you fall into His outstretched arms. He will take the burden that is too heavy for you to carry. As Papa holds you, Jesus’ light burden comes upon you to comfort you and to give you rest.

Do not worry about what is ahead or what lies behind because He is before you and behind you! He is surrounding you with His love and kindness. He is blanketing you with warmth and protection. His angels have been set on guard around you to minister to you and to battle for you.

Your Daddy loves you so very much. His goodness and tenderness is with you, right where you are today. He is the lifter of your head.

“So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy mountain. I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me. I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side. Arise, O Lord! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked! Victory comes from you, O Lord. May you bless your people. ” Psalms‬ ‭3:2-8‬ ‭
